New 8-Beater Chairlift “Silberbrünnl” For Sölden

The "Silberbrünnl" remains a central feature of Sölden's lift network. It is indispensable as a feeder lift to the glacier ski area, Gaislachkogl, and Gampe, and beginners appreciate the lift for repeat runs on the blue piste 13. To meet the increasing demands of guests, the current 4-seater chairlift will be replaced by a modern 8-seater version for the 2025/26 winter season.

  • Commissioning: November 2025
  • Type: 8-seater chairlift with 83 chairs
  • Maximum capacity: 3,800 people per hour
  • Manufacturer / Model: Doppelmayr D-Line Generation
  • Travel time: approx. 5.3 minutes at 6 m/s speed
  • Features: Entry conveyor belt, locking bar for safe passenger transport (children), weather protection hoods.
  • Piste connection: Connection between pistes 7 and 22

The planned connection of slopes 7 and 22 in Sölden is an example of how targeted measures can sustainably improve the quality of a ski area for the benefit of customers. In the future, skiers will be able to reach all four major valley points (Gaislachkogl Valley, Sölden Town Center, Postplatz Sölden, Giggijoch Valley) directly on skis more quickly and comfortably. This will reduce traffic in Sölden.

At the same time, the steep sections on the valley runs will be eliminated for less experienced skiers, particularly in one section of slope 7 and by bypassing the steepest section of slope 22. This will allow winter sports enthusiasts to enjoy a continuous blue slope from Hochsölden to Grünwald, and the intersection of slopes will form its own connected ski area close to the valley. This offers a sought-after alternative, especially during stormy weather in higher regions or during shutdowns of connecting cable cars. Furthermore, without the need for additional cable cars, the usable slope area in the ski area will increase.

What makes the piste connection so special?

  • Direct connection to all four main valley points
  • No additional ski bus service in case of failure of connecting lifts or main feeder lines (e.g. due to wind)
  • Steep sections of the valley runs 7 and 22 can be bypassed
  • On days with wind problems at the higher cable cars, the newly created slopes connect the four existing valley runs of the Gaislachkogl and Giggijoch cable cars to form a small ski area
  • Faster clearing of the ski area
  • Additional piste area
  • Potential for year-round use such as bike trails
