Mt. Hood Meadows Targets November 25 For Opening Day

Mt. Hood Meadows announced plans to open the 2022/23 winter season on Friday, November 25 - the day after Thanksgiving. The resort intends to launch into daily operations, conditions permitting - and operate through April 29, 2023 for an impressive 148 days scheduled. Night operations are scheduled to launch December 16 five nights a week (Wednesday through Sunday evenings) through the middle of March for a planned 68 nights of riding. The hourly operational schedule changes during holidays and is posted on the resort website.

VP of Sales and Marketing Dave Tragethon says, “The schedule is dependent on snowfall and conditions, but with another La Niña season forecast we expect to have weather on our side. We have also invested heavily in our snow harvesting capabilities to get the mountain open even with meager early season snowfall. We have prepared ourselves to make the most of what natural snow we receive, and during La Niña year’s, that tends to be a lot!”

Meadows finished last season - also a La Niña - with 499 inches, well above its 430 inch seasonal snowfall average. Meadows is also prepared to offer preview days or weekends in advance of Thanksgiving, depending on when the snow arrives. The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for snow in the Cascades this weekend - and pass holders can't wait to start playing in it!

Explore Your Mountain Home Experiences offered from Opening through December 19

Meadows invites those who have wanted to experience the mountain in winter to Explore Your Mountain Home, with a variety of trial experiences from the time the resort opens (scheduled November 25) through December 19. Meadows has specially priced trial packages for skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing and snow shoeing to welcome visitors to the mountain during time frames that are generally less busy, to create adventures that are fun and comfortable.

Those trying skiing and snowboarding can reserve a $69 experience that includes a two hour group lesson, equipment rental and beginner lift ticket – which is half the price of the regular learn to ski or ride packages. The experience includes special offers in sports shop such as socks, hats, gloves and other essentials to make first-timers more comfortable as they explore the mountain.

Similar experiences will be offered for cross country skiing and snow shoeing – with an emphasis on small groups of four to six people organizing their own adventure together, with a seasoned Nordic instructor to guide them through their day.

Explore Your Mountain Home experiences will be available for advance reservation and purchase from the resort website SkiHood.com in November.
