More Than 20,000 Guests Have Already Used The New Digital Schladming-Dachstein Summer Card

The Austrian adventure region Schladming-Dachstein has long been considered a digital pioneer. As the first ski area in the Alps, guests were able to access area-wide WiFi and explore the entire region in a virtual 360-degree flight. This year the Styrian tourism experts have set another milestone. The successful “Sommercard” was offered in digital form for the first time within the Schladming-Dachstein app for smartphones. In the first few months, more than 20,000 holidaymakers digitally activated the destination card. Technical highlights in addition to weather, webcams and event guides include location-based information on excursion destinations, check-in challenges with competitions and the digital guest directory of the respective accommodation.

  • The Styrian holiday region set another milestone in digitization this year
  • A digital destination map, all information and services in one app for smartphones
  • Location-based data, weather, webcams, event guides, gondola reservations and much more
  • The validity of the summer card has been extended to November 1st this year
“Nowadays it is no longer enough to simply keep information available online. We need digital services that offer real added value for the guest, ”explains Mathias Schattleitner, Managing Director of Schladming-Dachstein Tourismusmarketing GmbH. “With the digitization of our destination map and a comprehensive mobile app concept, we were able to further increase the service level for our guests. An important basis for building further functions on it in the future. Location-based information, check-in challenges and competitions
So-called “On Location Information” is particularly practical for the user: If you cross a “geofence”, i.e. a digital geographical delimitation, with your mobile device - for example a mountain such as the Hauser Kaibling, the app gives good tips on what to do here in The case includes hiking on the children's adventure trail, an excursion to the Bärfallspitze, but also water zorbing or disc golf. The entertaining “Check-In Challenges” are also location-based: The guest visits a defined location and checks in via the app. If a challenge has been successfully completed, if at least four of the six original locations of the TV series “Die Bergretter” have been visited, you automatically take part in a raffle with attractive prizes.
Digital guest directory in the Schladming-Dachstein app
"We have extended the validity of the summer card again this year until November 1st and are therefore offering a tasty additional treat for families during the autumn holidays," says Schattleitner. Around 100 companies have already issued the summer card digitally this year. The Schladming-Dachstein app offers great advantages for them too. As part of a cooperation with the Austrian provider Mister Digigast, participating landlords, pensions or hotels can create a digital guest directory for their house. This can contain all relevant information such as breakfast times, WiFi codes, checkout deadlines, menus, but also hiking tips, free massage appointments or the direct order of food and drinks in the room.
