Modernization Meets Experience: New Highlights In The Paznaun Winter 2025/26

Paznaun is kicking off the 2025/26 winter season with numerous investments in modern lift technology, attractive family offers, and top-class events. In Ischgl, two new 8-seater D-Line chairlifts, the international Ikon Pass partnership, and the premiere of the Ischgl Trophy are attracting attention. In Kappl and See, comfort and family-friendliness are the focus – with two new lifts and a spacious family area. Galtür scores points with an early cross-country start thanks to snow farming. Awarded by Skiresort.de, Paznaun once again confirms its place among the top winter destinations in the Alps.

Ischgl: New 8-seater D-Line chairlifts, international connections & tennis event

Silvrettaseilbahn AG is investing 50 million euros in the modernization of the Silvretta Arena and will build three state-of-the-art 8-seater D-Line chairlifts with heated seats, weather protection hoods, and the innovative AURO system, which enables automatic entry and exit monitoring, by the 2026/27 winter season.

  • The Höllbodenbahn C1 cable car (from 2025) will transport up to 4,200 passengers per hour. The new mountain station will be built approximately 500 meters east of the Idalp to optimize traffic flow.
  • The Sassgalunbahn C3 (from 2025) with a capacity of 3,400 people per hour will replace the existing 6-seater chairlift and improve access to surrounding slopes.
  • The Höllkarbahn C2 (from 2026) with a length of 1,850 meters offers a transport capacity of 4,200 people per hour and ensures more comfort and shorter waiting times in the Höllkar area.
  • All chairlifts will have themed backrests (Top of the Mountain Concerts, History of Silvrettaseilbahn AG, Silvretta Therme Ischgl) and will be equipped with over 1,200 m² of photovoltaic modules (total output: 274.5 kWp). The old systems will be reused sustainably – for example, the former Höllbodenbahn will serve as the new Familienglückbahn (family-friendly cable car) in See.

Another milestone: Ischgl is now part of the international Ikon Pass network. The Ikon Pass gives winter sports fans from all over the world access to over 60 ski resorts in America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan – including, for the first time, the cross-border Silvretta Arena Ischgl/Samnaun.

From December 11 to 13, 2025, the Ischgl Trophy will also premiere – an exclusive tennis event featuring stars such as Dominic Thiem and Tommy Haas. The venue will be the Tennis Center Ischgl. In addition to exciting matches, a top-class supporting program will be offered, including a gala, a mountain hut evening, a Pro-Am tournament, and a tennis clinic.

In addition, the Silvretta Arena was awarded a 5-star ski resort by Skiresort.de and was named test winner in the categories of snow reliability, orientation, and après-ski.

World record gondola made of 400,000 LEGO® bricks can now be experienced at the valley station of the 3-S Pardatschgratbahn A2

The record-breaking gondola, constructed from approximately 400,000 LEGO® bricks and holding the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title with a height of 4.51 meters, a length of 2.70 meters, and a width of 2.43 meters, can now be admired for several years in the entrance area of the valley station of the 3-S Pardatschgratbahn A2 in Ischgl. The world-record gondola, which was created as part of a collaborative project with guests – many of whom were children – impresses with its attention to detail, including artfully designed window panels with iconic Ischgl motifs made from 24,576 LEGO elements. Winter sports enthusiasts and visitors thus have ample opportunity to experience this extraordinary work – a world-record gondola made of LEGO bricks – up close and to immortalize themselves with a photo amidst the splendor of the construction.

Kappl & See ski area: Two new lifts, a strong family offer

Modernization is also progressing in Kappl: By the 2025/26 winter season, the new Diasbahn, a state-of-the-art 10-passenger monocable gondola lift, will replace the 1987 system. It offers improved ride comfort, optimized routing, shorter wait times, and a higher capacity of up to 2,400 passengers per hour. The new lift will enable fast, barrier-free access to the ski area and set new standards.

In See, the former Höllbodenbahn cable car from Ischgl is being completely overhauled and rebuilt for the new 6-seater "Familienglück" chairlift – true to the motto "Rise like a Phoenix." The facility, with a capacity of 2,500 passengers per hour, opens up an ideal area for families and beginners. A showcase project for sustainable cable car infrastructure through the reuse of existing systems.

A new family area is being built around the lift in See, featuring a covered conveyor belt, a family park, and attractive beginner slopes. The new snow park is designed for children and teenagers and offers a variety of snow park features, such as boxes and tubes with increasing difficulty levels.

The See ski area received the award “Extra Class: World’s Leading Ski Area with up to 60 km of Slopes” from Skiresort.de.

A total of around 30 million euros will be invested in the renovation of the two lifts – a joint project of the Kappl & See ski area, which focuses on greater comfort, higher transport capacities and pioneering technology.

Galtür: Season starts in November thanks to snow farming

In Galtür, the cross-country skiing season begins as early as mid-November. This is made possible by a professional snow farming system that utilizes natural snow stored over the summer. Even at this early stage, approximately 4 kilometers of trails are available for use. The Ischgl & Galtür cross-country skiing region offers a total of around 80 kilometers of groomed trails of all difficulty levels in winter – an ideal training environment for amateur and professional skiers.

Silvapark Galtür has once again been awarded “Extra Class: World's Leading Ski Resort with up to 60 km of Slopes” by Skiresort.de – particularly for its family-friendly offerings.
