Milano Cortina Winter Olympics 2026: Technoalpin Delivers The Core Snowmaking Projects

TechnoAlpin is once again playing a key role in the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. The world market leader secured the majority of international calls for tender for the snowmaking systems in the main competition venues. The key factor in winning the contracts was not the price, but the technological superiority, high energy efficiency and many years of experience in the implementation of complex projects.
In Bormio, the venue for the men's alpine races, the largest project (investment volume of 11 million euros) is currently under construction with some 80 snow producers and two powerful pumping stations. TechnoAlpin was not awarded the contract until spring 2025 - leaving only a few months until the planned commissioning in November.
Work is also progressing rapidly in Livigno – including the construction of one of Italy's largest reservoirs with a capacity of 200,000 m³ at 2,530 m above sea level, as well as 74 pits and a powerful pumping station.. TT series snow producers will be in action in Livigno.
The Nordic center in Tesero and the biathlon facility in Antholz have also been modernized since the summer of 2024. In Antholz, a SnowFactory complements the classic snowmaking system and ensures snow reliability even when temperatures are above freezing. In Cortina d'Ampezzo, no further expansion was necessary thanks to the snowmaking system that had already been modernized for the 2021 World Ski Championships. At that time, 32 new fan guns were installed and the pumping stations were expanded – a forward-looking investment that will also pay off for Milano Cortina 2026.
With these projects, TechnoAlpin has once again confirmed its leading role as a reliable partner for major international winter sports events. TechnoAlpin secured projects with a total value of 30 million euros for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
