Melzer & Hopfner Work On New 8pack Teufeltalbahn In Gerlos Ski Area

The 10EUB Stuanmandlbahn went into operation in 2019. This was the second step after the 10EUB Dorfbahn built in 2016 for a high-quality connection from the town center of Gerlos to the neighboring ski area in Zell. This year the third and final step follows to close the “comfort gap” in Zell.

In their project, mountain railways in Gerlos - as with the aforementioned projects 10EUB Dorfbahn and 10EUD Stuanmandlbahn - receive technical support from the Vorarlberg planning office Melzer & Hopfner from Bregenz.

MODERN INFRASTRUCTURE FOR HIGHEST COMFORT

After studying the options in detail, it was decided to equip the last link in the chain with a wind-stable 8-seater chair with weather protection hoods and seat heating, so that a state-of-the-art and extremely comfortable connection is now created from the town center to the edge of the Zell ski area.

TECHNICAL SOPHISTICATION AND CLEAR ARCHITECTURE

The new valley station will be located directly after the 10EUB Wilde Krimml, which will be completed in 2023. By repositioning these two stations, the area is “tidy” and made much more spacious and comfortable for guests. Almost half of the single-hip spur track station will be filled in in order to make the structure as small as possible.

The mountain station is at the highest point of the ski area. The station is completely closed for weather reasons and due to the altitude. In addition to the pure cable car station, it includes technical rooms, energy supply, water reservoir and an extremely spacious storage area for the cable cars in the basement. A contemporary photovoltaic system will be installed on the south facade of the mountain station.

The technical concept envisages an 8-seater chairlift with direct drive. The rigid bridge drive is located in the mountain station and is braced in the valley. The train station for all vehicles is in the valley. The 8-seater armchairs with single seat look, weather protection hoods and seat heating offer excellent comfort. In addition, due to its mass, the vehicle is extremely wind-stable and therefore ensures maximum availability even in the occasional breeze.

All buildings are planned or designed by Melzer & Hopfner and bear their clear signature. Clear, straightforward architecture, reduced design and high functionality speak for themselves.
