Mayrhofen Takes Another Step Towards Becoming A Sustainable Tourism Destination

Just in time for the start of the winter season, the Mayrhofen Tourism Association, together with the Mayrhofen mountain lifts, is implementing another measure for climate-friendly mobility.

Almost the entire ski bus fleet will be powered by HVO diesel ("Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil") – a synthetic, paraffinic fuel based on vegetable oils and fats, which reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 90% compared to conventional diesel and can be used in existing diesel engines.

18 out of 19 ski buses have been converted to HVO diesel, and the remaining bus is already fully electric. Together, we are making an important contribution to further reducing emissions in daily winter operations – and demonstrating that sustainability and comfort can go hand in hand in alpine tourism.

The free, comprehensive ski bus network thus remains not only convenient and efficient, but also becomes more climate-friendly step by step.
