Maria Alm / Hochkonig: New Photovoltaic Systems For Sustainable Energy Supply

Aberg – Hinterthal – Bergbahnen AG is pleased to announce the successful installation of state-of-the-art photovoltaic systems. This environmentally friendly initiative underlines our commitment to sustainability and the protection of our beautiful alpine environment.

A total of 226 photovoltaic modules were installed on a total area of 450 m², achieving an impressive total output of 91.8 kWp. According to calculations, this system will achieve an annual energy yield of around 100,000 kWh. This amount of energy corresponds to the annual consumption of around 35 single-family homes and covers around a quarter of the Natrunbahn's annual electricity requirements.

This project was implemented in cooperation with several local and specialized companies: Moser Montagen Gries im Pinzgau installed the photovoltaic system, Elektro Stöckl Saalfelden supplied the alternating current components and carried out the initial testing, Spenglerei/Dachdecker Hollaus took care of the roof penetrations, and TÜV Süd prepared the necessary safety reports and expert opinions.

The photovoltaic system is designed to feed in excess energy, which means that the energy generated is used directly when needed and the excess electricity is fed into the Salzburg Netz network. However, because the trains are running during the day, only a minimal energy surplus is expected. The installation of a battery storage system was not carried out because this is not economically or practically necessary.

This investment in sustainable energy sources shows our commitment to protecting the environment while reducing operating costs. We are proud to contribute to reducing CO2 emissions and preserving the Hochkönig region for future generations.

Ing. Siegfried Egger, CEO of Aberg – Hinterthal – Bergbahnen AG in Maria Alm, comments: "The installation of the photovoltaic systems represents an important step towards an energy-efficient future. Our goal is not only to preserve the beauty of our alpine landscape, but also to implement innovative solutions that reduce our ecological footprint. This investment underlines our commitment to promoting sustainable practices while continuously improving the comfort and quality of our services."
