Mardi Haskell Joins BMA Staff As Director Of Enrollment And Financial Aid

Burke Mountain Academy (BMA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Mardi Haskell ‘12 as Director of Enrollment and Financial Aid effective June 15, 2018.

“We could not be more pleased to welcome Mardi back to Burke.” says Willy Booker ‘96, Head of School. “In many ways, enrollment personnel are the face of the school and are the first impression for incoming families. As a true ‘Burkie’, Mardi’s intensity, positive outlook, and professionalism are great assets to bring to this position and to BMA at large.”

Haskell graduated from BMA as one of the top junior ski racers in the East in 2012. She went on to a stellar career at Colby College where she earned four consecutive All-American honors while earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology and acting as captain of the Women’s Alpine Team from 2014-2017. Most recently, she worked in the medical industry in Boston, MA.

“I’m thrilled to be returning to BMA,” notes Haskell. “Burke has always held a very special place in my heart and I’m excited to join the staff to continue to support the mission of the school.”

In addition to her primary responsibility as Enrollment Director, Mardi will assume an active role on the hill.

“This past year, as a coach at the Franconia Ski Club, I realized that skiing is a big part of my life,” she tells. “I still have an itch to get out there and pass on some of what I’ve learned in my own ski career. Burke is, obviously, the ideal place to do just that.”

Booker added: “Mardi’s student-athlete experience at both BMA and Colby along with her commitment to Burke’s character values, make her uniquely qualified, to identify and recommend potential candidates for enrollment.”

“To be able to return to Burke, that gave me so much such joy and opportunity, is both an honor and a privilege” explains Haskell. “I’m looking forward to being a part of this authentically unique community once again, as I’ve yet to encounter a more encouraging, uplifting, passionate group of people. I’m humbled to be given the opportunity to once again, live the Burke experience as a trusted member of the staff. Since retiring from the collegiate circuit, I’ve aspired to help educate, exchange knowledge, and learn from athletes as they navigate their journey, and I’m thrilled to make this a reality back at BMA.”

Haskell assumes the role in the wake of the previously announced departure of Tory Amorello. She joins a number of alumni who are returning to BMA for the 2018/19 school year.

Recently, it was recently announced that Peter Ireland ‘92 and his wife Rebecca (Young) Ireland ‘96 were joining the school as Executive Chef and English Teacher respectively. Jenny (Bruell) Fisher ‘01 is also returning to BMA for her second stint on the staff joining the Development Office. Jenny is joined by her husband Jake Fisher who will head the U16 Women’s staff and is also returning to BMA for a second time on the staff.
