Mammoth Lakes Opens For The Season

Mammoth Lakes saw its first snowfall for the season just over a month ago and marked the official beginning of the winter season with lifts opening last week. The destination has an exciting season ahead with the opening of its first luxury accommodation, Limelight Mammoth will open from December. 

The resort has seen 36 inches of snowfall so far this season, with a 30-inch base at the summit and a 15-inch base at Main Lodge. Mammoth is California’s highest chairlift serviced peak and sees incredible snow conditions, so there is plenty more snow to come. with four base lodges, 150 named trails, 11 terrain parks and 3,500 acres of skiable terrain, the mountain is an endless source of adventure for skiers and boarders.

Alongside skiing and boarding, visitors can enjoy a plethora of winter activities, from snowshoeing and cross-country skiing on over 140 miles (225 km) of cross-country track to exploring the Eastern Sierra on 80 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. Alternatively, head to Woolly’s Adventure Summit where the whole family can get involved in sledding and tubing, zip down the hill in a high-speed snow tube and simply take the magic carpet back to the top to do it again and again.
