Maier Sports Finds That Fit Is The Key Factor When Purchasing A Jacket And Trousers,

A recent Maier Sports survey with InTheSnow Magazine, proves that the most important thing for skiers when it comes to clothing is the fit, with 95% of respondents saying that the ‘perfect fit’ is either very important or extremely important.

  • 95% of skiers saying fit is the most important factor when it comes to purchasing clothing for the slopes
  • 75% saying that sustainability is important to them – only 2% say it’s not relevant
  • Price is also crucial with 95% saying their budget is under £250 for skiing trousers
  • Half are saying they still purchase clothing from a retailer in person

Maier Sports offers more choice of size than most other ski brands on the market, making it one of the most inclusive brands for skiers and snowboarders.

Only 15% of respondents purchase a new outfit every season, with the majority at around 70% buying a new jacket and trousers every 2 to 5 years. Therefore getting the size right is crucial.

Sustainability was also a significant factor when it comes to purchasing decisions with 75% saying it was important to them. Only 2% said that it wasn’t relevant at all. As Maier Sports is a leader in sustainability, being one of the first brands to introduce fully PFC free clothing and launching its fully recyclable project in 2023, it once again proves that genuine activity in the area of sustainable clothing is making a difference.

Almost half of the respondents use their ski or snowboard jacket for other uses when back at home. This is a growing trend – a ski jacket is not just for skiing. And when it comes to ski trousers, 54% have a budget under £150, with a further 41% saying they could spend between £150 and £250. Only 5% are prepared to spend more, putting many of the well-known brands out of the running.

Just over 50% of respondents still purchase their ski or snowboard clothing from a retail store in person, slightly surprising results considering the availability of online retail but also in-line with the fact sizing and fit is so important.

Linda Torstensson from Maier Sports UK, said: “This survey just proves what we already know but it’s great to see that Maier Sports is on the right track when doing what’s right for the consumer. A bad fitting ski suit is no good for anyone and with up to 61 sizes in each trouser, there really is a perfect fit for everyone out there. It’s great to see that sustainability is important too, because Maier Sports invests so much into its projects that genuinely make a difference. The Circle of Life project called design2recycle–recycle2design leads the way in creating a fully sustainable lifecycle of a product”.

Rebecca Dawson from Vampire Outdoor Gear, a specialist retailer of plus size outdoor clothing and equipment, said: “As a plus-size specific retailer, we’re delighted to have discovered Maier Sports. Its perfect fit promise, with fully inclusive sizes is ideal for our customers.”

Maier Sports ski clothing is available in retailers across the UK and Ireland, with the ‘Perfect Fit’ promise.
