Mad Jack Snowsports Announces investment In R&D To bring A Revolutionary Alpine Touring Product To The Market

Mad Jack Snowsports, the innovative snowports manufacturing company that launched the patented MadJacks, a product that allows you to ski in the comfort of a snowboard boot, is bringing similar innovation to the alpine touring vertical.

‘The MadJack has been widely successful at disrupting the alpine ski boot industry, it was only natural to look at other applications within the snowsports world we could solve for, and the alpine touring segment is a no brainer.’ said Kristin Mehiel, CEO.

Mad Jack Snowsports is an innovative snowsports manufacturing company based is San Luis Obispo, CA. The company’s ground breaking product, the MadJacks, allows snowsports enthusiasts to morph their snowboard boots onto ski boots. Affording skiers the comfort of a snowboard boot, married with the performance of a ski boot at a price point that is on average one-third less than a traditional alpine boot, through a simple, patented device.  Mad Jack Snowsports is passionate and dedicated to getting people outdoors in an affordable and comfortable manner. The company is dedicated to getting people ‘on the hill; and happy on the hill.”

The Alpine Touring (or AT) version of the MadJacks will be designed with a similar philosophy in mind to the MadJacks. There will be an open chassis that will wrap around any snowboard boot that will then click into the newer alpine touring binding. Allowing backcountry skiers the ease of trekking in a snowboard boot, but traversing down just like you would in a traditional AT Boot, without compromising performance. To help carry this vision further, Mad Jack Snowsports has partnered with the world renowned Cal Poly Mechanical Engineering department to support the final R&D efforts.

‘The ski boot industry has been lacking true innovations for decades. As we embark on refining our AT design, it seemed only fitting to engage a university that is known for innovation.’ said Dr. Eric Mehiel Co-Founder and Head of Product Development.

Design refinement is beginning early in 2019, target launch of final product is Fall 2019 through a Kickstarter campaign.
