Luminox x ICE-SAR 1080 Series: A Guiding Light In The Land Of Ice And Fire

Luminox, the Swiss-made adventure watch chosen by elite forces around the world, release the latest series in essential timepieces for the Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue (ICE-SAR). The ICE-SAR 1080 Series is designed to support Search & Rescue (SAR) operations of this intrepid unit in the world’s most extreme environments, including volcanic eruptions, avalanches, shipwrecks, mega storms and more.
In a country that has only 4-5 hours of daylight in winter months, visibility in the dark is critical to rescue missions where time is of the essence. True to its mission-ready DNA, the 1080 Series features 15 Luminox Light Technology (LLT) tubes that provide constant night visibility for up to 25 years and complemented by the Super-LumiNova® SAR symbol emblazoned on the dial. Charged by natural light during the day, the luminous triangle shines brightly at night, paying homage to the guardians of the land of ice and fire.
The ICE-SAR 1080 introduces a bold new 45mm case made from CARBONOX, a lightweight yet ultra-durable material engineered to withstand harsh conditions. Its textured dial adds depth and tactility, while sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating ensures clarity in all environments. Powered by a Swiss Quartz RONDA movement, the watch delivers unwavering accuracy and reliability when needed most.
Paired with a water resistance up to 200 meters, and equipped with a pulsometer scale, it is prepared for even the most demanding aquatic recovery and rescues. On the case back, the four steps of rescue operations — Locate, Access, Stabilize, and Transport (LAST) are engraved as a constant reminder of the mission.
A highlight of the new series is the Limited-Edition model, with just 874 pieces worldwide to commemorate the year 874 AD, when the first settlers arrived in Iceland. This special edition combines a striking fire-red textile strap and outer dial ring, with the robust CARBONOX case and bezel construction, symbolizing both heritage and durability.
“The ICE-SAR 1080 Series is a tribute to courage and endurance,” said Pierrick Marcoux, Global Product Director. “Every detail reflects our mission to create timepieces that are not only precise and reliable but also honor and support the brave men and women of ICE-SAR who dedicate their lives to saving others.”
Luminox is proud to continue supporting the unit and equipping them with additional tools to help them achieve a successful outcome, in any way possible. The ICE-SAR 1080 Series is a trusted tool for those who brave the elements in the service of others — a watch inspired by the mission, engineered for resilience, and always visible in the darkest conditions.
