Leitner: First Cabin Reaches The Matterhorn Glacier Paradise

One week ago the first Pininfarina cabin for the tricable gondola lift Matterhorn glacier paradise has arrived at the foot of the Klein Matterhorn. The cabin’s journey started at the production hall of the cabin manufacturer Sigma in France. It has been transported with a special truck to Cervinia (IT). From there the cabin, weighing 1950 kg, floated up with a helicopter to the station “Trockener Steg” at a height of 3.000 meters where LEITNER ropeways is constructing the new 3S gondola lift. The cabin will now be used for adjusting works in the bottom station.
The new gondola lift will start operation on 29th of September 2018 and will bring guests in only nine minutes to the Klein Matterhorn at a height of over 3.800 meters.
The summit lift will carry you to the highest viewing platform in the Alps, at 3883 metres above sea level. A 360º panorama opens up, taking in 38 peaks towering over four thousand metres and 14 glaciers in the French, Italian and Swiss Alps. See if you can make out Mont Blanc – Europe’s highest mountain – and, further in the distance, the Jungfrau in all her radiant beauty.
