Latest Booking Data From Heidi – UK’s Second-Largest Ski Holiday Operator - Families Becoming More Strategic About Where They Go Skiing During February Half Term

Latest booking data from Heidi - the UK’s second-largest ski holiday operator - suggests families are becoming more strategic about where they go skiing during February half term - one of the busiest and most expensive weeks of the ski season.

Heidi has revealed the ski resorts seeing the strongest growth for February half term compared to last year, and it’s a mix of well-known Alpine resorts and quieter alternatives.

  • Saint Gervais in France leads the growth trend with February half term bookings up 271%, followed by Borovets, Bulgaria (+181%) and Alpe d’Huez, France (+164%).
  • Demand is also up sharply for Italy’s Courmayeur and Flaine, France (both +129%), as well as La Clusaz, France (+100%) and Voss in Norway (+71%), as families seek alternatives to the Alps’ busiest mega-resorts during this peak week.

The data suggests that parents are balancing price with prioritising resorts that make half-term skiing feel more manageable and offer overall value - with good learning terrain, established ski schools and resort layouts that reduce faff during peak season.
Alexander Blunt, Co-founder at Heidi, explains: “What these resorts have in common is that they reduce friction for families. Choosing the right resort - with the right family-friendly setup within it - makes a huge difference.”

Prioritising great value

Blunt adds: “Great value doesn’t just mean the lowest price. For our customers, price matters of course, but they also prioritise getting a quality experience for their money - comfortable accommodation, flexibility, convenience, help on hand if they need it, and peace of mind.”

While Bulgarian destinations like Borovets are often highlighted for their affordability, Italian resorts such as Courmayeur benefit from Italy’s overall cheaper prices across lift passes, equipment hire and ski lessons. Norway is also gaining attention as a surprisingly good-value alternative beyond the Alps.

French favourites like Alpe d’Huez, Flaine and Les Arcs continue to attract families by offering a balance between price, familiarity and experience - combininghigh-quality infrastructure, family-focused facilities and varied terrain, without tipping into the premium end of the market.

How families can make February half term cheaper

  • February half term family ski holidays are still very much in demand - and there are hacks to help make them more affordable:
Opting for a shorter stay (5 nights) instead of a full week. It may sound obvious, but you can save thousands whilst still getting lots of skiing in. Plus, flying on weekdays rather than Saturdays can be cheaper.
  • Self-catered accommodation to avoid peak-week restaurant prices
  • Buying local or beginner lift passes rather than full-area upgrades - and choosing resorts with free (or cheaper) kids passes.
Haven’t booked yet? There’s still time.

Here are five 5-night packages at these trending resorts for a family of four over February half term, departing Sunday 15th February 2026:

  • Borovets - £578pp. Includes: 5 nights’ self-catering at Villa Park Guest Apartments, return flights and airport transfers.
  • Alpe d’Huez - £1,220pp. Includes: 5 nights’ self-catering at Résidence Pierre & Vacances L'Ours Blanc, return flights and airport transfers.
