Fiscal year 2021/22

Figures & conclusion: In the 2021/22 financial year with the balance sheet date September 30, 2022, Gletscherbahnen Kaprun Aktiengesellschaft generated sales of 46.6 million euros and thus achieved a net income of 4.8 million euros. A comparison with the last fiscal year 2018/19 unaffected by Corona shows an increase in sales of 1.8 percent. From October 2021 to September 2022, 1,045,640 guests visited the Kitzsteinhorn and the Maiskogel, despite the sometimes difficult general conditions. The proportion of mountain & nature experience guests in relation to snow sports enthusiasts has continued to rise - from 26 to 74 percent in the 2018/19 financial year to 30 to 70 percent in the 2021/22 financial year. This increase results from an increasing number of excursion guests, also in the winter months, as well as mountain bikers: domestic and international guests in the summer months. Whether with or without sports equipment - people seem to long for time out and regeneration in nature. This is reflected in the positive figures from the 2021/22 financial year.

Outlook

In order to protect the glacier and save energy, ski operations will be stopped earlier in the future - as early as in winter 2022/23 on May 29th, i.e. seven weeks earlier than in previous years. The cable cars to the Kitzsteinhorn and TOP OF SALZBURG/Gipfelwelt 3000 remain open and accessible to day trippers all year round. In terms of mobility, the company is aiming for a gradual conversion to electric drives for its own fleet of cars and minibuses. Since winter 2022/23, Gletscherbahnen Kaprun Aktiengesellschaft has also been operating its snow cats on the Maiskogel entirely with renewable HVO100 diesel fuel. The fossil-free diesel substitute is made from natural waste products such as used cooking oils and fats from restaurants and the food industry and emits 90 percent less CO2. For the company, this means CO2 savings of 240 tons on the Maiskogel in winter 2022/23. The focus is also on energy saving and efficiency as well as the expansion of in-house generation from renewable energy sources. By the end of 2023, the company's own power generation and energy generation from hydropower, solar energy, geothermal energy and energy recovery will amount to around 2,350,000 kWh per year.
