Imster Bergbahnen Successfully Implements “Local Tariffs”

When discussions arose in the fall of 2024 surrounding reduced-price ski tickets for local residents, the Imst Bergbahnen quickly sought alternative, legally compliant ways to continue offering lower-priced tickets to local guests. TIWAG, for example, immediately assisted in finding a solution. After the winter, Managing Director Bernhard Schöpf draws a very positive conclusion and promises to continue offering these rates in the future.

Family pass holders, clubs, and TIWAG Advantage World and Stadtwerke Imst customers also benefited from a price advantage in the family-friendly Hoch-Imst ski and tobogganing region during the 2024/25 winter season. Imster Bergbahnen acted as pioneers with these initiatives. The cooperation with the Tyrolean state energy supplier as part of its Advantage World program was particularly well-received by numerous local ski resorts. "When we approached TIWAG in the fall, they were immediately willing to work on an interim solution for the benefit of the local population. Many thanks to TIWAG CEO Alexander Speckle for their immediate acceptance. Many TIWAG customers then gladly took advantage of the offer," said Bernhard Schöpf. TIWAG also welcomed Imster Bergbahnen's request in the fall of 2024.

Continuation in summer

Due to high demand, the Imst Bergbahnen (Imst Mountain Railways) are continuing to offer discounts for Tyroleans during the warmer months. Managing Director Bernhard Schöpf emphasizes: "We will continue our successful cooperation with the energy suppliers in the summer. We are currently negotiating the details. In any case, customers of TIWAG and – importantly for us at Imst Bergbahnen – also of the Imst municipal utilities will benefit from discounted mountain railway tickets on selected days in the summer of 2025." The season begins on May 1, 2025. The Imst Bergbahnen will be open Thursday to Sunday until May 18, and daily from May 22.

Affordable local recreational opportunities

In addition to electricity provider customers, all family pass holders in Hoch-Imst received discounted day ski passes. Clubs and emergency services were invited to negotiate discounts for their members at the Imst cable cars. Bernhard Schöpf emphasizes: "With these discounts, we have covered a large portion of the population in our catchment area. The people of Tyrol need affordable local recreational opportunities. We will continue to ensure this in the future."
