Hinterstoder-Wurzeralm Bergbahnen & OO Verkehrsverbund Promote Public Transport To Resorts

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in all areas of daily life. With this in mind, the Hinterstoder-Wurzeralm Bergbahnen AG and the OÖ Verkehrsverbund invite you to three public hiking weekends in Hinterstoder and the Wurzeralm in September.

Sustainability as a principle: 50% discount on cable cars

Anyone who travels to Hinterstoder (Höss) or Wurzeralm by public transport on the weekends of September 16th and 17th, September 23rd and 24th, as well as September 30th and October 1st, 2023 will receive a 50% discount on all trips the mountain railways. Tourists can travel particularly easily and relaxed with the Leisure Ticket Upper Austria. With this day network ticket for the whole of Upper Austria, up to two adults and four children under 15 can travel for one day on all buses and trains in local and regional public transport for 24.90 euros. Of course, all other public transport tickets are also valid for this campaign in the spirit of climate-friendly mobility.

“With this campaign we would like to show all guests how easy and easy our mountains are to reach by public transport. We act sustainably and close to nature throughout our business activities and would also like to motivate all guests to use public transport more when it comes to travel,” says Rainer Rohregger, CEO of Hinterstoder-Wurzeralm Bergbahnen AG.

“The public hiking weekends are the perfect opportunity to get your calves in shape. If you start your day's excursion by bus and train, you are not only traveling sustainably and environmentally friendly, but you can also save money. This makes the day out more eventful, more relaxing and more relaxing at the same time,” says State Councilor for Infrastructure and Mobility Günther Steinkellner.
“Upper Austrians can experience how easy and pleasant it is to reach the most popular excursion destinations in the state in an environmentally friendly, relaxed manner and without having to look for a parking space. In collaboration with our tourism partners, we are pursuing the clear goal of reducing traffic jams, parking problems and CO2 emissions in excursion destinations,” emphasizes Herbert Kubasta, Managing Director of the OÖ Verkehrsverbund Gesellschaft.

Public hiking weekends in Hinterstoder and on the Wurzeralm

A network of trails of around 600 kilometers awaits all hikers and mountaineers in the Pyhrn-Priel holiday region. The cable cars provide easy and quick access to the mountains for athletes and those who want to enjoy their free time on the terraces of rustic huts. Anyone who travels by public transport on the three public hiking weekends will receive a 50 percent discount on the mountain railways in Hinterstoder (Höss) and on the Wurzeralm with a valid public transport ticket. For example, the ascent and descent for adults with the cable car in Hinterstoder to the middle station or with the funicular on the Wurzeralm only costs 10.50 euros for adults instead of 21.00 euros.

Promotion valid with all public transport tickets

The special prices for the public hiking weekends apply to all OÖVV tickets valid at the time (KlimaTicket OÖ, monthly ticket, leisure ticket OÖ, youth ticket network or single ticket) as well as the KlimaTicket Österreich. The discount is granted at the respective sales points, e.g. at the valley station counters, upon presentation of a public transport ticket that is valid on the relevant day. The promotion also applies to reduced prices for children and young people.

Arrival in the Pyhrn-Priel holiday region

After arriving at the Hinterstoder train station or Spital am Pyhrn, the easiest way for day trippers to reach their destination on the public hiking weekends is via the Pyhrnpass Wurzeralmseilbahn or Hinterstoder Freizeitpark regional bus stops. Those interested can find the best travel options in the timetable information on the OÖVV website or in the OÖVV app.
