Helly Hansen Releases New Race Jacket Developed With Norwegian National Alpine Team

Helly Hansen has been the brand trusted by professionals, using insight and experience to create gear to perform in even the toughest outdoor conditions. For Autumn 2024, designers worked closely with the Norwegian national alpine team - Team Telenor Alpine Norway to develop the Kvitfjell Race Insulated Jacket, built to balance the performance, comfort and Norwegian heritage style desired by both professional alpine skiers and enthusiasts alike heading out on the slopes.

The Kvitfjell Race Insulated Jacket brings purposeful design through innovative technologies and professional-influenced features. With a HELLY TECH Professional 2-Some descriptionlayer construction using 4-way stretch fabric, the jacket is fully waterproof, and seam-sealed while allowing complete mobility. PrimaLoft Black Ocean Recycled insulation maintains warmth while ventilation openings add to the breathability.

The Norwegian national alpine team expressed the need for a warm and flexible jacket that could easily be taken on and off any number of times throughout a day of training. Helly Hansen designers refined each detail, including widened cuffs that allow room for arm guards, as well as rapid jacket removal while keeping gloves on. The 4-way stretch fabric brings optimal movement, as well as versatility to athletes whose bodies are constantly moving and changing throughout a race season. The women’s jacket includes an expander zipper in the centre back to provide additional fit and comfort options for a variety of body types.

The extra high collar maintains warmth when it’s needed, while the insulated, helmet-compatible hood adds further protection. Additional features include a RECCO reflector for added safety, an adjustable powder skirt, multiple pockets, and mesh ventilation for added breathability. The Life Pocket+ keeps your pocket three times warmer than traditional pockets, keeping phones running longer in colder climates. A newly added silicone grip leash accommodates a variety of phone sizes to minimize any drop risk. The jacket is a bluesign product and uses a PFC-free durable water repellent treatment.

“Our team thrives on working alongside professionals to bring meaning and quality to every design we create,” said Louise Micolon, Product Manager for Ski at Helly Hansen. “With the Kvitfjell Race Insulated Jacket, we aimed to blend a mix of our brand design heritage with the team’s influence. The men’s and women’s jackets are cohesive, yet independent, both sporting the classic red, white and blue of the Norwegian flag to drive team and country pride. Knowing that we can provide the confidence these athletes need in their gear to perform at their best is what continues to drive us as a design team and brand.”

The Kvitfjell Race Insulated Jacket will be available in both men’s and women’s styles in a range of colourways, in-store and online in Autumn 2024.
