What are mono-materials, and why do they use them in the Kallio collection?

“For us, sustainability starts already at the design stage by creating timeless, durable pieces and by choosing materials with the product lifecycle in mind,” says Noora Salonen, Product Category Manager of the Kallio collection.

“In our Kallio collection, we design most of the garments with mono-material approach. This means that all materials used in the product (excluding some details like zipper pullers) are composed of a single type of material. One of the biggest challenges in textile recycling is blended materials. By choosing a mono-material design, we want to do our part so that the materials can be more efficiently recycled at the end of the product’s lifecycle, without compromising on performance or style,” Noora adds.
