Alterra Mountain Company Community Foundation & Stratton Awards $200,000 In Relief Funding To Employees Impacted By Hurricane Melissa

Since Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica on October 28, 2025, the Alterra Mountain Company Community Foundation (AMCCF) has awarded approximately $200,000 in emergency relief funding to impacted individuals across the Alterra Mountain Company family. Roughly half of these funds were provided directly by AMCCF, and the other half were raised by Stratton through the leadership of its resort team and the generosity of employees, guests, and community members.
The Alterra Mountain Company Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the individuals who live and work in mountain communities across North America. Through direct financial assistance and community-driven initiatives, the Foundation helps those facing unexpected hardship, strengthens local resilience, and ensures that the people who shape the mountain experience can thrive year-round. The Foundation is supported by contributions from Alterra Mountain Company, employees, guests, and community partners. For more information, please visit https://www.alterracommunityfoundation.org/
AMCCF provides hardship relief assistance to those living and working in its mountain communities, but the hurricane impacted an outsized number of Stratton employees, who accounted for nearly 80 percent of all submissions. In response, Stratton mobilized quickly and raised $100,000 to support its impacted team members, which was complemented by AMCCF’s relief funding.
“The Community Foundation exists to show up for people experiencing hardship,” said Karen Sanford, Chief Legal & Social Responsibility Officer of Alterra Mountain Company and President of the Board for the Alterra Mountain Company Community Foundation. “We are deeply committed to supporting the individuals and families who live and work in mountain communities, including the many people who join us seasonally. When crises like Hurricane Melissa strike, our privilege is to ensure our people have access to immediate support and a pathway to stability.”
“The Stratton community has always taken care of one another,” said Matt Jones, President of Stratton. “Our employees are like family, and the generosity shown in recent weeks reflects the deep bond that has grown over many seasons. We are grateful for everyone who came together to help our team members recover and prepare for the year ahead.”
AMCCF will continue providing direct relief grants as additional needs emerge.
