Groundbreaking Ceremony For Alpen Bikepark Schneeberg Held

Against the alpine backdrop of the Schneeberg, ten kilometers of trails and lines for all skill levels will be created in the Puchberg district of Losenheim over the coming months. Today's groundbreaking ceremony marked the official launch of the project. "With the Alpen Bikepark Schneeberg, we are catapulting leisure tourism on the Schneeberg into a new era starting in spring 2026. Our vision is to become a leading mountain bike destination. To achieve this, we have secured a unique ambassador: mountain bike professional Clemens Kaudela," explains Lower Austria's Minister of Transport and Deputy Governor Udo Landbauer.
With a total investment volume of 2.6 million euros, the Alpen Bikepark Schneeberg will be an action-packed, sports-filled, and nature-filled experience for families, children, and ambitious adrenaline fans. Construction will take place around the existing infrastructure of the Schneeberg chairlift, and the station building will be converted into a shop and rental. Particular emphasis will be placed on a natural design using local wood. Ambassador Clemens Kaudela will support the team during construction and help design the trails and lines. With his experience as a freerider in various bike parks around the world, the young Lower Austrian brings valuable expertise. For example, he was the first Austrian to participate in the Red Bull Rampage, the most extreme mountain bike freeride competition in the world. "Especially in my role as State Minister for Sport, I am all the more pleased that we have been able to gain Clemens as an ambassador who rides his bike with passion and, despite his global fame, has such a strong connection to his home state of Lower Austria," says Landbauer.
The Alpen Bikepark Schneeberg fits seamlessly into the regional project "Mountainbike Region Schneebergland," which creates a comprehensive experience with mountain bike trails throughout the Schneeberg region. The region's infrastructure, with its existing restaurant offerings and overnight accommodations, provides the foundation for offering bikers everything they need to make even longer stays attractive. In its first three years, the Alpen Bikepark Schneeberg is expected to attract up to 25,000 additional visitors to the region. The new offering will create up to eight additional jobs and generate 3,000 to 5,000 overnight stays per year. This represents added value for the municipality and the region and strengthens the regional tourism infrastructure.
When it opens in spring 2026, the Schneeberg Alpine Bike Park will offer almost ten kilometers of trails and lines of all difficulty levels, from blue to black (similar to the slope difficulty levels), as well as the lower section of the downhill freeride route and a Kids & Skills Area for the youngest guests and beginners. In the second expansion phase (by spring 2027), missing sections of the single trails (red and blue) and the upper section of the downhill freeride route will be completed, and the jump line will be built. The third expansion phase (by spring 2028) will include the final section of the red single trail and another freeride route. The total offering will then consist of 15 kilometers of trails and lines.
