Good Summer Season For Vorarlberg Lift Co's

After two mixed summer seasons due to corona, the Vorarlberger Bergbahnen are happy about a good summer result in 2022, despite the rainy September. They recorded an increase in sales of around 15 percent compared to the previous year. Vorarlberg is particularly popular as a holiday destination with guests from Germany and Switzerland.

The mostly warm summer also pleased the Vorarlberg mountain railways: As the balance of the 2022 summer season shows, the mountain railways were able to record a significant increase compared to the previous year's season: by mid-October, six percent more guests were welcomed and around 15 percent more sales were achieved. “Our business depends heavily on the weather conditions. Last year we had an above-average number of rainy days. Luckily the weather was - for the most part - on our side again this year. The rainy September pushed the average down a bit, but overall we are still satisfied with the increase in sales. The positive sales trend is also due to our investments in year-round tourism. The destinations are constantly expanding what they have to offer, so that there is the right mountain experience for every guest. The demand shows us that we are on the right track here. At the same time, the figures once again illustrate the great importance of the summer mountain railways for regional added value and for Vorarlberg as a tourist location," explains Andreas Gapp, chairman of the Vorarlberg cable car specialist group. There are hardly any changes in the composition of the guests compared to the previous year: the largest group of visitors are German holidaymakers, followed by Vorarlberg and then, at some distance, the Swiss.
