Find The Next Generation Of Freeriders At Kappl, March 2019

Up and coming young freeriders return to Kappl, Austria, for the Freeride Junior World Championship (FJWC) in March 13-15, 2019, to crown the best riders at the sport’s developmental level. The partnership with host resort Kappl, in cooperation with local organizer Open Faces, will see the FJWC riders meeting for this thrilling event in Austria in 2019 as well as 2020

The FJWC is the most prestigious single event for the next generation of freeriders. While thousands of riders compete around the world at a multitude of events at regional and national levels, the FJWC brings the top 60 riders, representing 15 nations and 4 continents, together for a single spectacular competition.

The top 30 ski men, 12 ski women, 12 snowboard men and 6 snowboard women from the 2018 global junior ranking make up the FJWC 2019 confirmed invite list. Six more riders are added considering their rankings following the 2019 Eldorado Freeride Junior competition in Vallnord-Arcalís when the top three ski men and the current leaders of ski women, snowboard men and snowboard women will receive the elite invitation.

The FJWC is one of the best opportunities to see the best 15-18 year-old riders in action before they advance to the Freeride World Qualifier (FWQ), and for some, the Freeride World Tour (FWT). FWT riders such as Craig Murray (NZL) and Grifen Moller (USA) have passed through the Freeride Junior Tour (FJT) ranks in the past. Which rider from the current generation of juniors will rise to such heights?

Many eyes will be on women’s ski standout Marie Bovard (SUI), who returns to defend her 2018 FJWC title, among many others : "I’m so excited to compete once again this year, I’ve been training all summer for this season and I can’t wait to be back on skis to enjoy the Austrian snow, because I really want to defend my title!"

The hottest rising stars in Freeride consistently blow minds with their explosive, creative riding, so mark your calendar and be sure to tune in for the live broadcast of FJWC 2019!
