Filzmoos Sets New Records

The past tourism year brought a record in bed occupancy (39 percent) and full occupancy days (142 days), although the tourism year is not the calendar year. In addition to the tourist offers in summer and winter, there are internationally significant events such as the Unicef Culture Week in August, the mountain art festival Mountain Art project in September, the international balloon weeks in January, the Yukigassen tournament in March, and the exclusive partnership with SnowWorld Amsterdam to the highlights of the holiday region.

Managing director Peter Donabauer also presented the projects for the current year. Three new hiking projects for families are being opened: Filz & Moor Naturparadies Rossbrand, Maya & Wastl's puzzle path and the mountain village scavenger hunt. As the guiding theme in the mountain sports segment, Filzmoos 2024 is focusing on trail running with its 6 permanent trails of all levels of difficulty, the two challenging mountain runs Filzmoosergipfelroas and Dachstein Torlauf and a trail running camp with international instructors for trail running beginners and advanced users.

The region's internationally significant cultural offering with the Unicef Culture Week and the Mountain Art project is complemented by the Dachstein Dialogue cultural and science festival. In addition to the increased international marketing of Filzmoos, the creation of additional guest beds - around 1,000 guest beds have been lost in recent years - is one of the most important focuses for the next few years. This year's hiking season ends with a grand finale. From September 19th to 21st, the World Hiking Championships will take place in Filzmoos with thousands of hiking enthusiasts from all over the world.
