Falls Creek Blanketed In Record-Breaking Snow

Falls Creek has launched into the 2025 snow season in spectacular style, with the greatest snowfall ever recorded for the King’s Birthday Long Weekend! Guests who arrived Friday night woke up to a breathtaking transformation: the entire village blanketed in deep, fresh snow.

Australia’s only true ski-in, ski-out alpine village has become a snow-covered wonderland, with white-dusted rooftops, snow-lined trails, and frozen alpine views stretching in every direction. It’s not just a great start, it’s a winter for the history books.

“Opening weekends don’t come like this very often. We've just seen one of the largest early season snowfalls, with deep natural coverage right through the village. It’s an amazing time to visit” said Dean De Santis, General Manager of Falls Creek

This week, Falls Creek Ski Lifts have been working hard to capitalise on the storm’s incredible conditions. From today Friday 13 June, Eagle Express and Drovers Dream will officially join the lift network, alongside Halley’s Comet, Towers Quad Chair, and Mouse Trap. And the momentum doesn’t stop there, as Gully Chairlift is scheduled to open this Saturday, unlocking Village Bowl access and even more terrain for eager snow lovers.

But the snow magic isn’t limited to lift-accessed areas. As the home of cross-country skiing in Australia, Falls Creek is proud to announce that grooming operations have commenced across 24 km of its renowned Nordic trail network. Signature trails like Aqueduct, Nordic Bowl, and McKay Loop are now groomed and in excellent condition, with more routes to open as snowfall allows. It’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting starts to the cross-country season in years.

In addition, Windy Corner’s toboggan slope is now open free of charge for guest use while the toboggan carpet remains offline. Families and snowplay enthusiasts are invited to bring their own toboggans (or hire one locally) and enjoy self-catered fun daily from 10:00AM to 5:00PM. Please note this is an unsupervised area during this period, and all users are responsible for their own safety and equipment. Access is dependent on weather and snow conditions and may change at short notice.

After two years of low early-season snowfall, guests have been slower to catch on, but make no mistake: Falls Creek is currently offering mid-winter conditions with off-peak crowd levels. From perfectly groomed trails to deep powder stashes and après ski vibes, the resort has come alive with everything we love about winter in the Aussie alps.

Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a long-time local, this is the moment to get up here and make the most of it!
