Erlebnisalm Monichkirchen: Modern Year Round Rental And Service Station Is Built

The Erlebnisalm Mönichkirchen also attracted many ski enthusiasts in the past winter season. However, the lending situation emerged as a bottleneck. Since the demand has increased in recent years and the space in Mönichkirchen has become more and more limited, it has now been decided to build a modern year-round rental and service station. “With the new service center, the welcome area and especially the equipment rental will be raised to a new level of quality. This opens up new target groups, for example publicly arriving guests, and benefits the entire location, ”emphasizes Jochen Danninger, the regional councilor for tourism and business.
Recently, the starting shot was given for the construction of the new rental and service station with indoor cash registers, sports shop, buffet and lounge area for bus drivers. The 630 square meter building will be located right next to the valley station. The 2.3 million euros required for this come from the own resources of the mountain railways and are partly financed by outside capital. "The Erlebnisalm Mönichkirchen is fortunately very well visited all year round and is now economically in a position to invest on its own", explains Jochen Danninger, the tourism and economic councilor.

Opening planned for December
If everything goes according to plan, the year-round rental and service station, which, according to Gerald Gabauer, Managing Director of Erlebnisalm Mönichkirchen, “plays everything”, should open this December at the start of the winter season. According to Gabauer, the importance of ski rentals is increasing: "More and more people want top-quality equipment, but don't have to worry about it". In the future, the public bus that will take guests to the ski area will stop right in front of the service center. In summer, for example, the station offers hiking equipment and bike rental. The focus on online ticket sales, which was established in the Corona winter 2020/2021, is also taken into account by reducing the number of tills and integrating pick-up machines in the service center.
“The general development in the tourist mountain experience is in the direction that the infrastructure and superstructure are used all year round, if possible. Classic ski areas are transformed into staged adventure spaces in four-season operation ”, agree ecoplus managing directors Helmut Miernicki and Markus Redl, managing directors of ecoplus Alpin GmbH.
