Eleven Names Mike Hattrup As Director Of Skiing

Eleven, an award-winning international leader in providing off-the-grid lodging and exclusive guided outdoor adventures, announced today that it has named Mike Hattrup as its new Director of Skiing, putting a proven industry veteran in charge of the development and promotion of the company’s network of ski destinations across four continents.

Hattrup was inducted into the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame in 2021 after a career that included turns in a string of iconic ski films in the 1980s and 1990s and three decades spent developing products for skiers to safely and skillfully access big mountains and the backcountry. Hattrup joins Eleven after he spent more than two years as the Ski Category Director for Black Diamond Equipment, the Utah-based developers of high-quality and innovative mountain sports equipment.

Hattrup also spent four years as U.S. Alpine Product Manager for Fischer Sports, and more than two decades in various leadership roles for K2 Sports, including a stint as the Brand Director for K2’s wildly popular K2 Telemark ski. He also served as the Director of International Sales, where he managed all international non-subsidiary sales for all K2 brands.

Born and raised in Seattle, Hattrup (above) began his skiing career at nearby Alpental and Crystal Mountain and soon emerged as one of the premiere mogul skiers of his generation, eventually reaching the U.S. Ski Team. He then teamed with fellow ski icons Glen Plake and Scot Schmidt to star in the seminal 1988 Greg Stump ski film “Blizzard of Aahhh’s,” one of more than a dozen ski films during his career. He left a marked impression on skiers all over the world, earning his place on Powder’s list of the 48 Most Influential Skiers of All-Time. Based in Ketchum, Idaho, he calls Sun Valley his home mountain. Hattrup is also a certified AMGA Ski Guide.

“Throughout my career, I’ve been very fortunate to ski in some extraordinary places around the globe. Eleven has assembled a collection of properties that are exceptional for their spectacular skiing and unique location, but that also embrace the culture with extravagant yet homey lodges,” Hattrup said. “The only thing better than skiing in a remarkable location is sharing that experience with friends, so I couldn’t be more excited to join the Eleven team to create once-in-a-lifetime memories for others.”

In his new role with Eleven, Hattrup will be tasked with developing the product, marketing, and sales strategies for the company’s global portfolio of ski products. He’ll also be responsible for generating new sales leads and ensuring that Eleven’s skiing products are appropriately positioned within the larger ski industry.

“As we look to expand the global footprint of our ski business, there’s no one better than Hattrup to help us take the next step,” said John Featherman, Managing Director of Assets and Development at Eleven. “Mike has a unique skill set that combines marketing, sales and guiding experience, as well as an in-depth knowledge of the entire ski industry. We’ve known and respected him for years, and we are thrilled to bring him on board to help us offer our guests the ski adventure of a lifetime.”

Founded in 2011 and based in Crested Butte, Colo., Eleven is an experiential travel company with a diverse portfolio of intimate properties in remarkable corners of the world, pairing world-class accommodations with guided outdoor adventures for guests of all ages and skill levels. The company currently offers ski programs in Colorado, Iceland, France, Chile, and British Columbia.
