Doppelmayr Installs First D-Line In Verbier

Verbier's first D-Line has been in operation since December. The new 10-seater "Barnes Line" gondola lift offers passengers a significantly shorter travel time, a transport capacity increased by more than 50% and a comfortable travel experience.

The 10-seater "Barnes Line" gondola in the Verbier 4Vallées ski area replaces a 6-seater gondola that went into operation in 1984. In winter, the new lift serves as the main feeder to the Verbier ski area. In the summer months, hikers take her to enjoy the mountains.

Powerful
At 3,200 people per hour, Verbier's first D-Line transports almost twice as many passengers as the previous system. The new facility replaces one of the two existing parallel gondola lifts connecting Verbier to Les Ruinettes. The two gondolas running next to each other enable a cumulative transport capacity of initially 4,400 and later 4,800 people per hour.
Industrial look & accessibility
Since the valley station is a listed building due to its architectural importance, the new cable car station was integrated into the existing building. The valley and mountain stations are kept in an industrial look, which corresponds to the monument protection regulations. The large concrete stairs have been replaced by two escalators in order to optimize the flow of guests and increase comfort. With the relocation of the lift, access to the valley station is possible directly from the road coming from Verbier. The passengers can reach the entrance barrier-free by elevator or escalators, where they can easily get into the cabin thanks to the level entrance. Laurent Vaucher, CEO of Téléverbier, is pleased:
