Discover History At The Spieljoch In Fugen

Since September 2021, the Spieljoch in Fügen has been looking back on a bygone era. Nine interactive play stations take you into the history of mining. Explorers will find out together whether ores, quartz or even precious metals are still waiting here. Also new: a 140 meter long tubing track and a 1,000 m2 play lake.
On the trail of bygone times
Hundreds of years ago precious minerals and metals were mined on the Spieljoch. In addition, visitors can learn more about the old days with the new crystal park. “In the last few months we have created a completely new game world that communicates knowledge from our region in a playful way. In this way, children, but of course adults too, learn more about our history in the midst of nature, ”says Manfred Pfister, managing director of the Fügen-Kaltenbach tourist board in the Zillertal. The tourism association and the Schultz Group (owner of the Spieljochbahn) invested a total of 1.4 million euros in the adventure world. “The Kristallpark perfectly complements and expands our offer for families on the Spieljoch. Long forgotten and special times come to life again. We are now retelling the story of traditional mining on the Spieljoch in an authentic manner, ”says Maximilian Schultz. The concept for the crystal park was developed together with the project development company input. In addition to the Kristallpark, a 140 meter long tubing track and a 1,000 m2 play lake were built: “The two additional leisure activities round off the overall package for outdoor experiences and provide refreshment and sliding fun for the whole family,” Maximilian Schultz continued.
The crystal park in detail
At the entrance to the Kristallpark, visitors are greeted by the mascot Knappi. The master of the mountains accompanies the explorers as a protagonist throughout the park. In the spacious sand play area, the little ones search for iron ore and hidden treasures themselves or put their throwing technique to the test in the stamp mill. The nimble squires, on the other hand, meet on the course with five obstacles to race. A special highlight is the adventure tunnel. With its acoustic backdrop, it transports young and old explorers into the middle of a glittering and magical world. Loren benches distributed across the mountain offer space for a break before you and your parents can go on the Knappen carousel or in the underground 3D tunnel labyrinth. The Mountain Loft directly at the mountain station takes care of physical well-being.
