Depression Causes Kling To Take a Break From Skiing

Together with the Swedish national team organization Kajsa Kling has taken the decision that she will take a break from all competition in the near future, . The reason is that Kajsa has developed  depression and therefore wants to focus on its own health.

Kajsa Britta Kling (born 25 December 1988) is a World Cup alpine ski racer from Sweden.

Born in Åre, Kling competes in all five alpine disciplines. At the 2010 Winter Olympics, she finished 26th in the giant slalom. On 28 December 2010, Kling crashed during a giant slalom race in Semmering, Austria, which ended her 2011 season.

On 14 December 2013, Kling attained her first World Cup podium, placing second in a Super-G race in St. Moritz, Switzerland

When it begins to approach the premiere premiere in the World Cup, Kajsa, after consulting with physicians, coaches and family, has decided to postpone her start of the racing season. Kajsa will therefore get support and help to feel better.

"I'm not well and then I need to be able to disconnect the mental stress it means to compete. I just want to focus on myself to move on, says Kajsa.

No matter what the depression is, it is a healthy decision to take a break from the competition according to the national team physician Per Liljeholm.

"Depression as a disease can cause a variety of symptoms, such as drowsiness, drowsiness and so on, but also reduced focus and concentration, and of course, it is not good if you are going to ski at high speeds," continues Per.

The pace of a racing season means would not help Kajsa in its recovery, so the decision is obvious.

Kajsa wants peace and quiet but she also points out that she is not down in a total darkness.

"It's not that I feel bad every day, but it's more that it's a heavy period in life and then I need to focus on the right things. Now it's most important that I put my own health first and foremost. Then we'll see how long it takes before I'm doing well again and it's only when I get back to skiing, Kajsa concludes.

SIN wishes Kasja a speedy recovery.
