Cranmore Announces Beginner Friendly Lift Serviced Mountain Bike Park For Summer, 2020

Cranmore Mountain Resort has recently broke ground on a beginner friendly lift serviced mountain bike park with a projected opening of June, 2020.  The park will feature 5 miles of beginner/intermediate flow trails off Cranmore’s South Quad, in addition to a skills park near the base of the mountain.   

Learn to bike packages will introduce people new to the sport using a progression approach to learning.  First timers will gain confidence on their bikes using natural features such as berms, rollers, small drops, jumps and bridges to ride over before progressing to the lift serviced flow trails.  Lift access passes will also be available for riders comfortable with lift service mountain biking.

“Most mountain bike parks have been designed by avid mountain bikers for enthusiasts of the sport.  We are taking a different approach by introducing downhill mountain biking trails for first timers, beginners and intermediate riders.” Said Cranmore President and GM, Ben Wilcox.  “Lift-serviced mountain biking is a great family adventure that we look forward to offering at the resort.”  

Trails will be built by Chris Lewando, owner of Tyrol Trails, in Glen, NH.  Lewando is also the main trail builder for White Mountains NEMBA, the organization that manages approximately 60 miles of trails in the Mount Washington Valley.  In addition, he has built a number of mountain bike trails at many resorts in the east.  

“Cranmore’s trails are designed and built to allow people new to the sport to easily experience downhill mountain biking,” said Lewando.  “I am really excited to be working with Cranmore on this project.  The idea is to slowly progress in difficulty, by introducing different terrain elements as they advance with their riding.”

In addition to new lift service trails, Cranmore is surrounded by a well – established cross country mountain bike trail network which will continue to grow when the Mount Washington Valley Recreation Path is installed.  The 4-mile paved path will run between Cranmore Mountain and Settlers’ Green Outlet Village and will provide residents and visitors with opportunities for safe, family-oriented recreation and transportation.  The new path is projected to start construction in 2020.

In June 2020, Cranmore will transition its winter rental shop into a full-service bike rental shop with a full line of full suspension and cross-country rentals and gear accessories.

Special Learn-To-Ride packages will be available and daily lift service tickets will be offered.
