Countryman Challenge 5k Obstacle Race At West Mountain April 21

West Mountain will hold its third annual Countryman Challenge 5k Obstacle Race Saturday, April 21, 2018. Sponsored by North Country Subaru, the 5k Obstacle Race will start at 10:00a.m. Registration for this event will take place in West Mountain's main lodge from 8:00 to 9:15a.m.

You must be seven years or older to participate. A shorter 'kids run' course with obstacles will be available for participants 11 years of age and younger. The kids run will start at 9:15a.m and will cost $5 to participate. Online registration for the 5k and kids run are available at active.com. Online pre-registration is $35 per Individual. Day of registration will be $40 per Individual. Teams of four are welcome to register and compete as a team. Online pre-registration is $130, and $150 if registering the day of the competition. All 5k race participants will receive a give-away bag with a t-shirt (for the first 150 competitors), one BBQ lunch ticket, and beer tasting ticket (for those 21 and older) to try a beer sample from Northway Brewing Company. For those not registered for the race, there will be additional BBQ tickets available for $10 online and during registration.

Awards will be given out to the overall top male and female participants as well as the top three finishers in each age group. Prizes include a full privilege season pass to West Mountain, as well as a midweek season pass, and tubing tickets.

These races are organized and run by West Mountain and West Mountain Racing, partial proceeds benefit West Mountain School (WMS) and Double H Ranch. West Mountain School, West Mountain's 501c (3), was formed to provide scholarship and support athletes of West Mountain Racing (WMR). West Mountain School awards need-based WMR program scholarships to alpine ski racing athletes. Moreover, the proceeds from these races will help West Mountain sponsor a camper for a week of camp at Double H Ranch. Double H Ranch provides specialized programs and year-round support for children and their families dealing with life-threatening illnesses. The Countryman 5k Obstacle race is sponsored by North Country Subaru, Northway Brewing Company, Market 32, Sysco, Curtis Lumber, and Glens Falls National Bank.
