Compliance With Health Measures Means Quebec Ski Resorts Remain Open
Winter is officially upon us and today is the kick-off for many Quebecers who are starting their holiday vacation this week. To the delight of skiers and snowboarders in Quebec, ski resorts will be able to continue to welcome them for the practice of their favorite sliding sport. The Association des stations de ski du Québec asks for everyone's collaboration so that the next few weeks run safely and that activities continue throughout the next season.
The return of colder temperatures and the snow received in the last days will allow the teams to make snow and work on the slopes in order to enlarge the ski area. “We are now calling on the vigilance of board sports fans to respect the health measures in place in the resorts. The latter are taking all necessary measures to ensure that winter activities remain safe for visitors and their employees, specifies Yves Juneau, president and CEO of the Association des stations de ski du Québec. “Following public health directives and complying with sanitary measures is truly a shared responsibility that allows us to protect everyone's health, in the mountains as in our daily lives. "

The tightening of sanitary measures announced by the government this week affects indoor facilities at stations. The reduction to 50% of the capacity of cabins, shops and food courts will lead to some operational and logistical adjustments such as:
- Reduced time spent indoors to 30 minutes
- Reservation of ski tickets in advance
- Dinner time reservation
- etc.
Here are a few reminders to prepare for a safe visit:
- Vaccination passport required for 13 years old and over
- Wearing the required face cover indoors
- Frequent hand washing
- Recommendation to wear the face cover in the queues and in the ski lifts (compulsory in the cable cars)
- Recommendation to board the chairlifts with people from the same household
- Physical distancing
