Clarus Corporation Completes Sale Of Pieps & JetForce Avalanche Pack IP

Clarus Corporation, parent of Black Diamond, RockyMounts, MaxTrax and Rhino-Rack, has completed the company’s previously announced sale of Pieps and assets of the JetForce avalanche pack intellectual property to a private investment firm for a total purchase price of €7.8 million (~$9.1 million) including cash and debt.
“The divestiture of Pieps reflects our continued focus on simplifying the business and rationalizing our product categories,” explained Clarus Executive Chairman Warren Kanders. “Following a comprehensive strategic review process, this transaction further strengthens our balance sheet and supports our ability to capitalize on clear long-term growth opportunities.”
The move follows a comprehensive strategic review process launched in the fall of 2024 and an increasing number of U.S. CPSC recalls of Pieps products.
The Austrian company Pieps GmbH is considered a global technology leader in the manufacture of avalanche transceivers ("avalanche PIEPS"). For more than 45 years, the company has been developing, producing, and distributing products for alpine safety in the snow.
