Bellayre Wins SAM ‘I Am A Snowmaker 2023’

Over 12,000 votes were cast during the 11-day voting period in the 2023 I AM a Snowmaker contest. IAMWinnerHNThis year’s contest showcased seven snowmaking teams from across North America: Belleayre Mountain, N.Y.; Bryce Resort, Va.; Jay Peak, Vt.; Massanutten Resort, Va.; Pleasant Mountain, Maine; Wachusett Mountain, Mass.; and Windham Mountain, N.Y.

The contest aims to recognize how critical these crews are to the success of their respective resorts and the industry as a whole. To demonstrate that, each crew created a compelling video highlighting their hard work, the pride they take in their job, their love of the mountains, and the camaraderie they share.

The winning crew receives a prize from HKD and industry-wide recognition for their dedication to and passion for the art of snowmaking.

Voting concluded Monday, Jan. 23, 2023, and the winner was announced Jan. 31 at an HKD event at the NSAA Eastern Conference in Killington, Vt. Watch the video to learn who won: 

“I am proud to share the 2023 I AM a Snowmaker competition has wrapped up and our winner is Belleayre Mountain,” said HKD President Charles Santry. “Voter turnout was incredible, with over 12,000 votes cast. As always, the videos from our seven contestants did not disappoint as each reflected the hard work and camaraderie that comes with the territory. All of us at HKD thank all participants for sharing their gun runs, break room shenanigans, sunrises and sunsets with the mountain community. The brother and sisterhood of snowmakers is alive and well!”
