Alpine Nature Experience’s Ecotourism At Mt Hotham Wins Gold Again.

Mt Hotham’s Alpine Nature Experience team has again won gold for their unique tourism offerings at the 2022 Victorian Tourism Industry Council awards, sweeping the Ecotourism and Unique Accommodation categories.

These are two categories where they took the silver placing in last year’s awards, and comes three short years after previously winning gold for Unique Accommodation in the same awards.

Located at the Possum Flat area of Mt Hotham resort, Alpine Nature Experience has specialised in giving guests ‘memorable moments in nature’ since they started operating in 2017.

From introducing the delights of sleeping under the stars in luxury snowdomes (and igloos!) and authentic French fondue to the Australian winter tourism industry, they have expanded their offerings to gourmet curated summer hikes and cycle tours, and continue to provide exceptional experiences that will be talked about by their guests long after they leave the mountain.

Summer camping in the unique alpine environment

Mt Hotham Resort Management has worked with Alpine Nature Experience to ensure their operation truly ‘leaves no trace’, yet still offers the ultimate in luxe outdoor experiences.

In winter, guests snowshoe into Mt Hotham’s peaceful snowgum forests to an eco-village, which is powered by solar energy and utilises composting toilets. All water is brought into the village and all waste is removed to ensure no impact on the local environment.

Guests still sleep comfortably under the stars in luxury, waking the next morning to fresh coffee and a cooked breakfast in a snow-covered snowgum wonderland – a singular experience in a country more closely identified with beaches and desert.

Alpine Nature Experience has over the past few years expanded their popular offering into the summer season, including treetop tent glamping and gourmet hosted hikes over Mt Hotham’s stunning and rugged alpine environment.
