Alpine Canada Is Proud To Launch The Audi 2020 Canadian Ski Racing Awards

Alpine Canada is excited to once again call on the ski community to help celebrate the best in alpine, para-alpine, and ski cross performances as well as contributions from across the country by submitting their votes and nominations for the Audi 2020 Canadian Ski Racing Awards presented by Helly Hansen. 

“Canada has a rich history of ski racing and Alpine Canada is proud to be a part of that. From athletes to coaches, clubs, volunteers, builders, and resorts, these awards celebrate the best of Canadian ski racing,” said Vania Grandi, president and CEO of Alpine Canada. “I encourage our community to participate in this celebration by nominating the people who make ski racing happen in their community, and placing their votes across all categories.”

Nominations are being accepted for the following awards, and their criteria can be reviewed on the awards site:

• Club Coach of the Year
• Volunteer of the Year
• Ski Racing Club of the Year
• Helly Hansen Resort of the Year
• Builder Award

In addition, the Minogue Award of Excellence – a $10,000 bursary – will be awarded to the successful applicant from amongst Canada’s emerging national team athletes who have been on any of our national teams for three years or less. 

“Congratulations to all Canadian athletes on another successful season,” shared Gene Fong, Marketing Director with Audi Canada. “As the Audi 2020 Canadian Ski Racing Awards launches, we want to recognize the dedication and passion of all athletes to reach to the top of the podium. each year, this is what makes us proud to support our national ski teams.

The voting and nomination period will be open from March 20 – April 17. All category results will be reviewed and confirmed by the Audi 2020 Canadian Ski Racing Awards’ Selection Committee comprised of delegates from across the country representing the athlete, resort, and ski club community – including Alpine Canada alumni.

Past Audi Canadian Ski Racing Award winners have included recently retired Canadian Alpine Ski Team member Dustin Cook, Olympic gold medalists Brady Leman, Kelsey Serwa and Marielle Thompson as well as Paralymic gold medalists Mac Marcoux and Mollie Jepsen. 

“Winning the award is always a nice cherry on top of a season,” said Brady Leman, 2018 Olympic Ski Cross Champion and 2019 FIS Freestyle Ski Cross World Championship silver-medallist. “Canada has a strong team, so if you can come out on top of the rest of the crew it usually means you had a great season.”

“We’re extremely proud of all the athletes who competed this past winter.  These awards celebrate the people who make ski racing possible and Helly Hansen is proud to support such amazing athletes, volunteers and ski areas,” said Damien Etchaubard Head of Marketing for Helly Hansen in Canada. “We hope these awards motivate all the professionals and aspiring skiers to keep following their dreams and to work hard in making them become reality.”

Results will be announced in the spring, with the awards set for presentation in the fall in Toronto.
