33rd Annual Abom Mogul Challenge Set To Ignite Mt Buller

Mt Buller’s legendary ABOM Mogul Challenge returns for its 33rd year this Saturday. The freshly renamed Jakara’s Mogul Course will come alive with a stacked international field and the high-energy atmosphere that has made this event the highlight of Australia’s mogul skiing calendar since 1989.
The ABOM Moguls Challenge has grown into the leading event for moguls skiing in Australia, attracting the world’s best battling for FIS points in a thrilling dual moguls showdown. For athletes, it’s the talking point of the season. For spectators, it’s an unmissable day of tight turns, big air, tumbles and triumphs – with plenty of butterflies in the stomach before each run.
This year will carry special significance, with Mt Buller officially renaming the formally known Chamois mogul course in honour of Olympic gold medalist Jakara Anthony. The renaming to Jakara Anthony’s Mogul Course will take place on Friday afternoon, ahead of ABOM event, as Anthony and her fellow athletes train and wear in the course that has shaped so many of her career-defining moments.
“It’s very exciting for the ABOM Mogul Challenge to be back for the first time since 2022, said Event Manager Andrew Pattison, “Especially having current Olympic gold medallist Jakara Anthony here competing at her home resort.”
The competition starts with training and heats before building to explosive dual moguls finals under lights. With dual-moguls making its Olympic debut at the Milano Cortina Games in February 2026, ABOM offers a thrilling preview of what the world will soon see on sport’s biggest stage. “It’s going to be a spectacle,” said Event Manager Andrew Pattison. “Fans here at Mt Buller are very familiar with the intensity of the dual format and we’re thrilled it’s now something going to the Olympics.” The runs are blindingly fast and packed with knee-pounding bumps, huge jumps and gravity-defying spins. As the sun sets, the crowd roars, music pumps, and the course sparkles.
This year’s line-up includes a roll call of world-class athletes from across Australia, Japan, Great Britain, Austria, Slovakia and beyond – including Mt Buller’s very own Jakara Anthony, who grew up training on this very course. She’s been putting in the hard yards ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and will be joined by fellow athletes Matt Graham (2018 Olympic silver medalist), and Charlotte Wilson (World Cup Winner). Fans can look forward to seeing them and other Olympic hopefuls throw down in spectacular style, with a strong youth field also stepping up to showcase the next generation of champions.
Beyond the competition, the ABOM Mogul Challenge is a celebration of freestyle skiing and the Mt Buller community. It’s where seasoned Olympians inspire young groms, families cheer from the sidelines, and the iconic ABOM Café and Bistro fuels the crowd. With a DJ, and live commentary the vibe is as much a part of the event as the racing itself.
