Greek Peak Mountain Resort Unveils Ambitious $2.51 Million Snowmaking Overhaul

Greek Peak Mountain Resort, Central New York's premier skiing and riding destination, has announced a transformative four-year capital investment plan totaling $2.51 million dedicated to modernizing and expanding its snowmaking capabilities. This significant upgrade, already underway, promises to deliver more consistent and reliable snow coverage, ensuring a longer and higher-quality ski season regardless of Mother Nature's whims.

The comprehensive plan, which will unfold over the next four years and continue through the 2028-29 season, focuses heavily on critical infrastructure improvements. These include extensive new pipe installations, the deployment of high-efficiency snow guns, crucial hydrant upgrades, and significant enhancements to pump capacity.

"Snowmaking is the heart of our winter operation," stated Wes Kryger, President of Greek Peak Mountain Resort. "This four-year plan represents some aggressive infrastructure upgrades coming on the heels of most recent efforts. It not only increases our efficiency and sustainability but ensures guests can count on top-tier conditions season after season."

Crews are already diligently working on pipe installations across key trails such as Upper and Lower Karyatis, with East Meadow, Boardwalk, and Lower Pollux next in line. These initial efforts will see the addition of new snow guns equipped with KLIK hydrants, ready for the upcoming 2025-26 ski season.

Subsequent phases of the plan will build upon this foundation, with continued pipe replacements in areas like Upper Pollux, Marathon, and Wendy's Way. Infrastructure additions will also include new valves and valve huts, designed to streamline water control and further enhance efficiency. The upgraded pump systems are expected to significantly boost overall snowmaking output.

Beyond immediate improvements, these snowmaking advancements are laying the groundwork for a potential future expansion on the east side of the mountain, encompassing trails such as Arcadian Gate, Crisaean Way, Arethusa Way, and Mars Hill. Over the entire four-year period, Greek Peak aims to add up to 250 new HKD snow guns across the mountain, a substantial increase that will dramatically improve terrain coverage and the speed at which trails can open.

"Our goal is simple, to deliver the best skiing and riding experience possible," Kryger added. "This investment reinforces our mission to create unforgettable memories for our ski guests at Central New York's Home Mountain."

This latest investment follows previous significant upgrades, including nearly $1 million in ski-side improvements for the 2023-24 season and over $1.3 million in 2022-23 for projects like the replacement and upgrade of Chair 3. Greek Peak's ongoing commitment to enhancing the guest experience solidifies its position as a leading regional ski destination.
