Zeller Bergbahnen Is Ready For Modernization Of The Rosenalmbahn

The modernization will further increase the comfort and attractiveness of the Rosenalmbahn and ensure its long-term sustainability.

The Rosenalmbahn cable car leads from Zell am Ziller up onto the Kreuzjoch mountain, a haven for hikers and mountainbikers. At the top of the cable car there are fantastic views of the surrounding Zillertal Alps. Both the mid-way station (section I) and the top station (section II) are good starting points for both easy walks and challenging hikes. Mountainbikers should head for the Wiesenalm singletrack winding its way down from the mid-way station to the valley floor.

Key facts about the modernized Rosenalmbahn

  • Level Walk-In: A barrier-free, comfortable entrance allows our guests to get in and out even more comfortably and quickly – access is made much easier, especially for families with strollers, wheelchair users and cyclists.
  • Unchanged route in 2 sections to the Rosenalm
  • New 8-person cabins (Omega IV/8): The modern 8-person Omega IV/8 cabins offer more space and comfort and enable faster and more efficient transport.
  • New electronics and control system: The entire electronics and control system of the cable car are being renewed to ensure even safer and more reliable operation.
  • Partial modernization of the stations: The stations will be partially modernized to further optimize boarding and alighting for passengers and to make operations more efficient.
  • Shortened season time summer season 2025

The Rosenalmbahn cable car is expected to be in operation in summer 2025 from June 7, 2025, to August 31, 2025. The necessary renovation work will begin after that.

This measure will impact the upcoming summer season. However, the construction work is necessary to ensure long-term operation and offer  guests an even better experience in the future. The 2025/26 winter season will start as usual in early December!
