Val Thorens, Europe’s Highest Ski Resort, Will Open On 18 November

Val Thorens, Europe’s highest ski resort, will open on 18 on November with good conditions. The Ski Lift Company has just confirmed that 70% of the lift will be open.
Val Thorens will host its first big event of the winter the following weekend.
On 25 and 26 November, the season kick-off in style with La Grande Première.  
Visitors will have the chance to test the new models of top ski manufacturers for free and benefit from professional advice. There will also be snowboards and snowcoots to test as well as clothing. In total, 57 brands will be represented. In the evening, the start of the season will be celebrated on Place Caron with free concerts, including Bormin and Julian Perretta.
On 2nd and 3rd December, the best car and motorbike drivers will get together on the Alain Prost ice circuit to compete in the first stage of the Andros Trophy.
For the 6th consecutive year, Val Thorens is hosting two stages of the Ski Cross World Cup. This winter, Val Thorens opens the competition by organising the 1st stage of the world cup circuit. It has become a go-to resort thanks to its spectacular itinerary and warm welcome – it will be from 5 to 9 December.
After the Ski Cross, Val Thorens will host the Snowboard Cross, on 13 December, just two short months before the Pyeongchang Olympic Games.
Christmas is a unique experience in Val Thorens. Torch-lit descents, hot chocolate, entertainment beneath the stars and watching Father Christmas arrive in spectacular fashion make this special week even more magical.

On 12 February, Val Thorens will host a stage of the ‘6 Stations’. This rugby tournament on a groomed snow field brings together passionate sports fans and former international players. Twelve rugby stars will coach and play with teams made up by the 6 chosen resorts. The tournament will take place in 6 different French ski resorts over the course of 6 days.
From 27 to 29 March, it is the Festival’ Tho: 3 days of outdoor fun to the sounds of major talents from the international electro scene.
A ski rally across the area’s 600 kilometres of runs, the 3 Vallées Enduro comprises a selection of different races.  Take part on 1st April.
And the season will end with the Apotheose Days from 1st to 8 May. It is a week of celebrations, entertainment, shows and a chance to try out new activities.
