UCPA Brand Launches In The UK With Remit To Bring School Students Into Sport

French not-for-profit organisation, UCPA, recently launched its brand in the UK and brings its objective of ‘sport for all’ across all its divisions including education.

With centres across France – summer and winter in the Alps and summer on the coast, there are opportunities for school students to participate in both winter sports, summer activities and Geography based field trips throughout the year, all at a price point that provides maximum value for money.

Action Outdoors, the UK partner of the UCPA organisation, is taking enquiries and bookings from February onward for school ski trips during the 2018-19 winter season, including over the popular Easter break.

The summer 2018 program has been launched on February 8th, 2018 that includes new centres on the French Atlantic and Mediterranean coast.

Tina Gale, General Manager of Action Outdoors and head of the education division, said: “Each year the UCPA host over 250,000 guests at centres across France. We hear terms such as grit, resilience and learning outside the classroom, particularly by Ofsted, but what does it mean in practice? How can these become naturally occurring outcomes of a teaching and learning strategy? At UCPA, outdoor activities, be they mountain or water sports based, bring with them challenges that are met by young people on a daily basis. It really is – pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep going. All develop a new activity-based skill set but also those all-important soft skills - communication, negotiation, support for others, leadership - the list is endless. With effective debriefing and evaluation, these skills can be recognised and further developed. All lead to personal achievement.”

School and college leaders can enquire through Action Outdoors directly for more information or to request a brochure.

UCPA was set up over 50 years ago to encourage young people to take part in outdoors sports. It has since developed into a not for profit organisation that provides sport holidays for a wide range of ages with a huge range of accommodation options. Each year over 240,000 people enjoy a sport holiday with UCPA, enjoying accessibility to outdoor sports regardless of social background, income or culture. UCPA also offers trips and tours to some of the best destinations for outdoor sports in 75 countries including Vietnam, Portugal and Brazil.

A total of 80 different sports activities are offered in UCPA centres all year round, including, skiing, surfing, mountaineering, diving, sailing and horse riding. During winter, UCPA centres operate in some of the top resorts in the Alps such as Val Thorens, Tignes, Val d’Isère and Chamonix. The holidays are always All Inclusive – lift passes, ski hire, all meals and guiding is included in the price. UCPA is the largest ski school in France and have their own instructor development program which allows young people to develop their career in sport instruction, whilst providing a strong base of instructors and guides to work within each centre for the whole season.
