Swedish 2025/2026 National Snowboard Team Has Been Selected

The 2025/2026 Snowboard Team Sweden season has been selected and consists of seven riders. With a new generation on the rise, an Olympics around the corner and a historic addition to the women's team, an exciting winter awaits Swedish snowboarding.
Senior national team
The biggest news is that Novalie Engholm, Falu SnowPark , will take a place in the A-national team. She will thus become the first woman in over ten years to represent Sweden at that level – a clear testament to the long-term commitment to getting more girls to the top of snowboarding. After a strong World Cup debut last season, with several personal bests, she is now taking the next natural step in her career.
"It feels so great to take another step in my career. I am grateful for the help I have received from the team over the years so far and look forward to working with them to reach as high as possible in the future. The goal for next season is of course to qualify for the Olympics, then the interim goals during the season are to do as well as possible in training and competition to get there. I have some new tricks in mind that I am training hard on now during the summer in Kläppen" says Novalie Engholm
The A-team also includes Gabriel Almqvist, Falu SnowPark , who has established himself internationally and continues to chase top results. Together with Sven Thorgren, Sollentuna SLK , who is now focusing more on freeskiing and film production, they form a strong trio where routine meets innovation.

U-17 national team
Behind the A-squad is a hungry U-national team with four skaters who want to establish themselves on the international stage. Lova Bäckström, Brälappen , is in the middle of her rehab after a knee injury but is aiming for a comeback during the season. Tova Nejne, Klimpfjälls Alpina , Ruben Rosenfors, RISK , and Nias Hedberg, Sälens IF , continue to chase success in both national and international competitions.
"It will be fun to continue my journey as part of the national team. I am motivated to develop and try to take my skating to the next level, which is also the goal for the upcoming season" says Nias Hedberg.

Olympics in focus
The 2025/2026 season is special – not least because it involves qualifying and important World Cup competitions ahead of the Olympics in Milan/Cortina 2026. For several of the skaters, the goal is clear: to take their place on the biggest stage of all.
"Novalie has had a fantastic development and shows that we are on the right track in our work to get more girls to the top. At the same time, we have a strong team in this year's national team, both in the A and U squads, and it will be incredibly exciting to follow their journey this winter, " says national team captain Niklas Mattsson .
