Sweden’s Alpine National Squad Ready For Winter 2026

With nine podiums from the World Cup and thirteen from the European Cup, the atmosphere is good as Ski Team Sweden Alpine closes the books for the past season. The men's team has climbed in the rankings and on the women's side there are several young talents who want to join in the fight. The summer training period has already started and with that the skiers are looking forward to a new winter, with the Olympics on the agenda. Now the national team squad for the winter of 2026 is presented.

– We look back on a season where we showed the ability to perform with both our more established top skiers in the World Cup and with our younger talents in the European Cup and JVM, which means that we look forward to the coming season with confidence, sums up Per Jonsson, acting national team manager, the past season.

The skiers in the alpine national team are selected based on their ranking on the World Cup, World Cup Start List (WCSL) and the European Cup Ranking List (ECSL), where different criteria determine which category they belong to within the team. Category A consists of skiers ranked in the top 30 on the World Cup Start List, WCSL. Category B consists of skiers ranked in the top 60 on the World Cup Start List, or top 15 on the corresponding list for the European Cup, ECSL. Category C consists of skiers who have not yet achieved the criteria for category B but have the potential to do so.

"We are entering an Olympic season with the Olympics in Milano-Cortina in February, which means extra focus and spice primarily for our more established skiers. With our very strong women's team on the technical side and a men's team that is clearly starting to take shape, we are looking forward to an exciting Olympics in Cortina for the girls and Bormio for the boys," says Per Jonsson.

For the coming winter, the squad contains a total of 20 skaters, evenly distributed across the three categories. Especially on the women's side, some young skaters have been included thanks to good placements during the winter.

"We had a strong JVM with medals and advanced placements in several disciplines, distributed among several individuals of both genders. In parallel, we also had a good European Cup season with continuous point placements of both girls and boys, where we see great potential in our young talents that will be exciting to follow next season and during the next Olympic periods," concludes Per Jonsson.
