Sun Peaks Ready To Welcome Winter With Game-Changing Adventures & Unmatched Snow Reliability

Excitement and anticipation are building for the forthcoming 2025/26 ski season, as Sun Peaks Resort welcomes a lineup of new features and industry-leading advancements that promise to redefine winter adventure for families, racers, and snow enthusiasts alike. Slated to open on November 22, look forward to reliable snow, more ways for families to connect, and new experiences in the awe-inspiring beauty of British Columbia’s interior mountains.
“This winter marks another significant season for Tourism Sun Peaks,” says Naomi Kerchinsky, Executive Director of Tourism Sun Peaks. “Our ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional visitor experiences positions Sun Peaks as a leading mountain destination. With the resort’s new initiatives supporting reliable snow conditions and enhancing visitor experiences, we’re inviting everyone to explore, play, and create unforgettable memories in our mountain community this winter.”
- ELEVATING THE WINTER EXPERIENCE - Multi-Million Dollar Snowmaking Enhancement. Sun Peaks Resort is investing big in the future of winter. The recently launched, multi-year snowmaking upgrade turbocharges the resort’s capacity, with a fleet of high-efficiency snow guns, state-of-the-art automation, and smart weather stations. Sun Peaks guests can count on pristine runs and perfect corduroy from opening day until spring.
- A CANADIAN FIRST - Finnish-Engineered Summer Snow Storage. Winter arrives earlier than ever thanks to Sun Peaks Resort becoming the first ski area in Canada to unleash world-class Finnish snow storage tech. In partnership with Snow Secure, Sun Peaks has successfully stockpiled 14,000m³ of snow over summer beneath a blanket of 18 patented, insulated mats monitored in real time. This innovation means 75 to 85% of pristine snow is retained through the warmest months, ensuring an immediate, natural snow surface for early-season alpine race training, and freeing up 1.5 million gallons of water for even more mountain coverage.
- FAMILY FRONTIER - New On-Mountain Kids Zones Await. Sun Peaks Resort is enhancing the family skiing experience with Moose’s Cabin, the third of four planned on-mountain kids zones launching this winter. Located on Tod Mountain, Moose’s Cabin features a walk-in cabin, a unique photo opportunity, and large-format wildlife artwork by local artisan Zuzy Rocka. Alongside Grouse’s Nest, a mini ski cross course, and Bear’s Liar, which hides characters in the Sundance Mountain glades, the zone offers interactive experiences that spark imagination and adventure, with Fox’s Den slated to complete the series in winter 2026/27.
- EXPANDED ACCESS FOR EVERYONE - Sunburst Bar + Eatery Accessibility Ramp. This season, comfort and inclusivity go hand in hand: the mid-mountain Sunburst Lodge now welcomes all guests with a brand-new, thoughtfully designed ramp, making it easier than ever to enjoy the iconic restaurant and patio.
From legendary terrain and a lively, alpine village filled with locally-inspired dining to an exciting calendar of events, Sun Peaks Resort delivers the most complete winter destination in the region. The adventure doesn’t stop with world-class skiing and snowboarding. Guests can explore Nordic trails, snowshoe through tranquil forests, slide down the tubing hill, glide across the ice-skating rink, and cap every day with unforgettable après-ski moments. Whether you’re first on the chair or soaking up the last rays on the patio, Sun Peaks promises endless ways to make memories all season long.
