Alta Wildflower Hike
Summers at Alta are laid back and magical, featuring broad meadows layered with a tapestry of wildflowers and rolling hills and streams leading up to mountains and cliffs. Plan an early hike on any of the 13 miles of trails, and you’ll likely see a few moose, foxes and lots of birds. The flowers peak mid to late July when the Wasatch Wildflower Festival is held (July 20). It is just one of many Alta events, such as trail runs, birding workshops, and more, that are all worth adding to your calendar.
An ideal day could start with an early hike followed by grabbing a bite at one of the nearby eateries. For simple fare, a quick snack and even a cool souvenir at the Alta Store at the Cecret Lake Trailhead located in the Albion Basin Campground. On Sundays, don’t miss brunch at the Alta Lodge with over 40 buffet selections. Other options include the Gulch Pub and Swen’s at Snowpine Lodge.
Note that the Summer Road opens late June or early July, and that there is a fee that helps maintain the infrastructure and facilities along the route. Don’t worry, if the road is closed, you can still hike from the base parking area.
Please note that dogs are NOT PERMITTED in the Little Cottonwood Canyon watershed.
Beaver Mountain
Beaver Mountain is the perfect basecamp for adventure! Located inside the Wasatch Cache National Forest, Beaver Mountain Resort is 27 miles from Logan, Utah, and 13 miles from Garden City, Utah, and Bear Lake.
It features beautiful views, hiking and mountain biking trails, and is within a half mile of a network of OHV trails. Lodging options include RV park, tent camping, and some very cool yurt rentals.
Additionally, the Lodge is available to rent for weddings, reunions, camps, retreats, and conferences. Rentals are available for a day or a week starting in May through October.
Note: Beaver Mountain is undergoing a large construction project. Please note that equipment and construction noise will occur on weekdays and some weekends. Due to the construction, some campsites may not be available this summer.
Brian Head Ski Resort
Sitting at an elevation of 10,000 feet, Brian Head offers a cool escape for summer adventures. Brian Head is home to over 100 miles of lift-served downhill mountain bike trails, scenic lift rides with views of Cedar Breaks National Monument, a man-made rock climbing wall, tubing, disc golf and more.
In addition to regular activities, Brian Head hosts events such as the Festival of Flavors (August 2) and a Summer Music Series on Saturdays (beginning July 12).
This much adventure requires fuel. For casual bites, check out the Giant Steps Lodge or the Patio Grill and Brews. Alternately, the pub-style Lift Bar and Patio in the Brian Head Lodge offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a full bar available after 11:30am. Click to learn more about dining options at Brian Head.
Brighton
Brighton is a hub of activity throughout the summer, and they keep adding more features and events every summer! This year, they’ve completed some new lift-served mountain biking trails for you to enjoy. Now you can hike, bike, chill on a scenic lift ride, play disc golf, or just relax with a beer and some grub (with amazing views, of course).
Now, if you still have energy for more, check out the Brighton event calendar. Events at Brighton are an eclectic mix of local vibes and culture. On Sundays, be sure to catch the Big Cottonwood Canyon Flea Market, which blends vintage goods and handmade art. It’s definitely a great way to experience Wasatch Mountain charm. On Saturdays and Sundays, catch the Mt. Majestic Music Series from 12pm-3pm on the Alpine Rose Deck all summer long.
Camp Brighton is available for chlidren ages 6-14 featuring two themes, Mountain Adventure and S.T.E.M. The camps are surprisingly affordable and have a transportation option.
Once you’ve worked up an appetite, grab a bite at one of several dining options at Brighton.
Please note that dogs are NOT PERMITTED in the Big Cottonwood Canyon watershed.
Cherry Peak
The Cherry Peak Summer Concert Series is an opportunity to lounge in their large natural amphitheatre nestled in the mountains. Bring your own chair or blankets (note the size restrictions on chairs), but leave your food at home. Don’t worry, there are plenty of vendors to take care of you. You may bring your beverages, just not a cooler.
The Concert Series kicks off on June 30 with Craig Campbell who is known for his authentic voice, blending traditional country roots with a modern twist. Other acts include tribute acts Monkee Men and Endless Summer (Beach Boys Tribute). Click to learn more about the full lineup and to reserve tickets.
Deer Valley Resort
Outdoor concerts, culinary adventures, and mountain biking experiences fill long summer days and nights at Deer Valley this summer. From numerous venues to catch live music on the mountain, to Creative Academy Classes serve up fresh “Little Chefs” courses, and a new Women’s Ride Series unites female mountain bikers out on the trail. The Deer Valley Music Festival opens on July 3 with the beloved Patriotic Pops concert and continues through July and August with a stellar lineup of guest artists, including Common, Lindsey Stirling, The Beach Boys, and more.
Kicking off the Deer Valley Concert Series, Maren Morris: The Dreamsicle Tour takes the stage on July 29, 2025. Find the full Deer Valley Concert Series line-up here.
Deer Valley is also home to some of the best lift-served MTB trails in the area, including flow trails designed by Gravity Logic. Many of Deer Valley’s trails also connect seamlessly with Park City’s singletrack network, offering options for all ability levels. Bike rentals and lessons are also available. Note: For summer 2025, many of Deer Valley's bike trails will be closed due to construction on the mountain.
Hiking is another popular activity, including a few guided options such as the Historical Tour, highlighting the area’s rich mining history.
Feeling hungry? Check out The Sticky Wicket (21+ bar), Deer Valley Café (pretty mountain views), or the Royal Street Café (located in the Silver Lake Lodge mid-mountain).
Eagle Point
Choose your own adventure at Eagle Point. Whether you’re hiking through scenic trails, mountain biking on 11 miles of single track, or paddleboarding on a peaceful lake, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Once you're there, you’ll want to stay, so check out their summer lodging options, which range from condos to cabins and houses.
If you work up an appetite, head over to the Canyonside Bar & Grill, which offers a selection of burgers, pasta, pizza, seafood, salads, and appetizers (opened June 6).

Solitude Mountain Resort
Solitude is like a small town where you can escape the summer heat. Kinda like an oversized summer camp! There are great places to stay, dine, drink, and most importantly, play!
Recently, Solitude added new mountain bike trails to their extensive collection, all built by Gravity Logic. If you’ve never ridden one of their trails, you’re in for a treat. They flow with perfect rhythm, making each turn feel smooth and confident. Solitude’s network of trails will also expand with the addition of a hybrid blue tech/jump trail to be built this summer. Lessons and rentals are also available.
Need a little help relaxing into vacation mode? Book some time in the Mountain Spa. Located in the lower level of The Inn at Solitude, in Solitude Village, they offer a full array of indulgent services including facials, massages, and more. Bonus, all massages, facials, and body treatments include access to spa amenities for the day. Enjoy the sauna, Inn pool, and hot tub before or after your treatment.
While there are several dining options, don’t miss brunch at St. Bernards (especially the brunch) or ice cream at Stone Haus.
At Solitude, there is always something happening. Yoga, film screenings, trail running events, and live music. Kicking things off this year, the Big Cottonwood Canyon Brew Fest is expanding to two days (June 14-15) with more vendors and more beer! Enjoy live music and tasty food paired with Utah's best local beers. Check out all the events on their site.
Please note that dogs are NOT PERMITTED in the Big Cottonwood Canyon watershed
Sundance Mountain Resort
Summers at Sundance are magical. From Full Moon Lift Rides to Flyfishing, there is plenty to do. That said, my favorite pastime at Sundance is relaxing and soaking in the beauty. The vibe is ultimate chill. Wander paths backdropped by scenic mountains, read a book by the Springs pool, enjoy a scrumptious lunch, and watch the glass blowers do their craft. You could make a day of that alone.
While a day trip to Sundance is delightful, if possible, plan to stay for one day or several. This will give you time to settle into the Sundance state of mind. From rooms and suites to entire homes, each option will have that cozy cabin vibe.
Sundance is known for hosting some great events, especially theater productions under the stars with Mt. Timpanogos as the backdrop. This Season features Wizard of Oz with shows running July 17 through August 9. Other events include Mountain Top Yoga and the Bearclaw Supper Club. Click to check out all the events at Sundance.
Dining at Sundance is an experience all on it's own. Their philosophy of “Food as Art” is shown throughout their menus and preparation. For a casual meal, visit Sundance Foundry Grill, which focuses on fresh ingredients prepared with simplicity to highlight natural flavor. For a more upscale vibe, head to Sundance Tree Room, which is decorated with Native American art and pieces from Robert Redford’s personal collection.
Woodward Park City
Woodward Park City is a year-round action sports destination featuring an Indoor Hub, Mountain Park, lift-served terrain, skate parks, trampolines, tubing, and a world-class community focused on progression. It’s built for all skill levels—whether you're a beginner or a pro.
