Snowland Announces Brazil's Second Indoor Snow Center For São Paulo By 2027

Brazilians will soon have a second guaranteed destination for year-round winter sports and snow play. Gramado Parks, the company behind the highly successful Snowland indoor snow center in Rio Grande do Sul, has officially announced plans to construct an even larger facility in São Paulo, with an anticipated opening between 2026 and 2027.

The expansion marks a significant investment in the country’s entertainment sector, bringing a true alpine experience to Brazil's most populous city. The new São Paulo center is budgeted at approximately R$ 200 million, and is designed to surpass the size of the original Gramado location, making it the largest indoor snow park in Brazil and potentially one of the largest in Latin America.

The original Snowland, which opened in $2013$, has attracted over $5.8$ million visitors, demonstrating a massive domestic appetite for snow-themed leisure, despite Brazil’s lack of natural ski fields. The choice of São Paulo—a metropolitan area with over $22 \text{ million}$ inhabitants—is a strategic move to tap into a high-density tourist and local market.

The massive climate-controlled complex will be maintained at sub-zero temperatures, typically around -5C ensuring the presence of real snow year-round. Visitors, who will be provided with thermal clothing upon entry, can look forward to a full range of winter activities:

  • Snow Sports: Dedicated slopes for skiing and snowboarding.
  • Family Fun: Ice skating, tubing, toboggan runs, and themed play zones like the "Kingdom Castle" and the "Snow Mountain."
  • Alpine Village: The park is expected to feature themed dining and retail areas designed to recreate the ambiance of a European mountain village.

While the exact location within São Paulo has not yet been disclosed, the plans also include the construction of an adjacent hotel, aiming to create a full destination experience for both domestic and international tourists. This major development underscores the growing trend for immersive, high-quality entertainment venues across Brazil. The new Snowland center promises to make the dream of playing in the snow a reality for millions of Brazilians without ever having to leave the country.
