Snow Drought Moves Ski Cross And Snowboard Cross Juniors Moved To Schladming-Dachstein.

The Reiteralm in the Styrian holiday region Schladming-Dachstein (www.schladming-dachstein.at) has recently taken over as venue for the Ski Cross and Snowboard Cross Junior World Championships (25.3 to 3.4.). Originally, the World Cup should have taken place in Slovenia, but the venue was moved because of a lack of snow.

The timing of the event at the end of the season could not be better, which means that around 2,000 additional overnight stays can be generated in the entire Schladming-Dachstein holiday region. The decisive factor for the short-term contract was the perfect snow situation around Schladming as well as the proven infrastructure of the region. Styria has already proven itself at the Alpine World Championships in Schladming and at the Nordic World Championships in Ramsau, the range of major sporting events is now completed by the Ski and Snowboard Cross Competition. In addition, the region boasts the Prinoth Crosspark Reiteralm, a newly built Ski Cross World Cup course.

The start of the Junior World Championship with the Ski Cross, Snowboard Cross and Team Competition will be on Monday, March 25th. Around 300 athletes from over 20 nations, including crossers from Brazil, Argentina and China will participate in the competitions. Austria is involved with six athletes in the World Cup. Local heroes are the HAK Schladming students Oliver Vierthaler from Filzmoos and Marcel Illmaier from Turnau. In addition to 140 coaches, many fans and spectators are expected to attend the competitions on the Reiteralm.
