Smith Launches New Snow-Centric Sunglasses

When summitting high peaks or exploring vast snowfields, eye protection in the alpine is serious business. From skiing to mountaineering, the new Smith Embark glacier-style sunglass holds up to harsh, ever-changing conditions while providing a contrast-boosting view of every crevasse, wind drift and terrain feature.

Glacier travel. High elevation summits. Spring snowfields. Eye protection in the alpine is serious business. Whether you’re skiing or mountaineering, the Smith Embark sunglasses hold up to harsh, ever-changing conditions while providing a contrast-boosting view of every crevasse, wind drift and terrain feature.

The UV and visible light activated Glacier Photochromic lens is less temperature sensitive than a traditional photochromic lens with a light transmission range from 45% to 7% that adapts dynamically to variations in light. ChromaPop™ delivers color and contrast-boosting performance throughout the full range of the lens, so you always have the best possible view. Removable and ventilated side shields add peripheral light coverage, and low-profile, adjustable temple arms let you customize the fit. A goggle-inspired retainer strap adds the security to keep them in place through technical ascents and high-speed descents.

The lightweight, impact-resistant frame – featuring a 6-base lens curvature for a modest wraparound fit – is comprised of Evolve bio-based frame material and is offered with ChromaPop lens technology
designed to cut glare while enhancing contrast, definition, natural color and unmatched clarity.

Four ChromaPop polarized lens tints are available, plus the new UV and visible light activated ChromaPop Glacier Photochromic Copper Blue Mirror that is less temperature sensitive than a traditional photochromic lens with a light transmission range from 45% to 7% to dynamically adapt to variations in light. The addition of anti-fog and hydroleophobic coatings on the Glacier Photochromic lens supports clear optics and easy cleaning.

Ventilated and flexible TPU side shields add peripheral light coverage in true glacier-glass style, and when removed, converts the Embark from a performance to lifestyle sunglass without compromising best-in-class innovations and design.

Additional features include low-profile, adjustable Quickfit temples for a customized fit, autolock hinges for comfort, megol nose pads for a no-slip grip, and a goggle-inspired retainer strap for added security during technical ascents and high-speed descents.

The new Embark (MSRP $199-$219 USD / $250-$280 CDN depending on lens and includes a hard case and microfiber bag) is available now at select retailers worldwide and online at smithoptics.com.

For a wrap glass, offering complete coverage and protection across sport disciplines and seasons, the new Bobcat sunglass provides the features and innovations of its best-selling counterpart, the Wildcat, in a smaller face fit and lightweight feel. The versatile crossover design with a modern fit and fierce flare pairs goggle-like performance with the airflow and comfort of a sunglass to support a vast range of adventures, from enduro trail rides to backcountry powder missions.

Constructed from Evolve bio-based frame material with adjustable flex, the 5-base lens curvature of the Bobcat has a slight wraparound fit across the seven color options. Offered exclusively in interchangeable ChromaPop lenses – including a Photochromic Clear to Gray option - designed to cut glare while enhancing contrast, definition, natural color and unmatched clarity on forested trails and in bright alpine bowls. A secondary clear bonus lens is also included for low-light conditions.

Flexible autolock hinges hold the Bobcat frame open for putting them on and off the face easily with one hand, while the addition of megol temples and two-position adjustable nosepads provide non-slip grip so they stay on the face through rocky terrain and high-speed descents.

The new Bobcat (MSRP $209-$229 USD / $250-$280 CDN depending on lens and includes a secondary lens, hard case and microfiber bag) is available now at select retailers worldwide and online at smithoptics.com.
